Oilers are in a bad way and need a lot of help on Wing and Defense.

Hamilton has been mentioned again in trade rumors and IMO he would be what the Oilers need.
He is still young, can produce and still has term on his contract.

But what would CAR be asking for him??

2019 1st rdp, Puljujarvi, Talbot

Would that be enough or would other pieces have to be involved for both sides??

I just feel like he is probably the best Defenseman available ......

Nope. Ask would be RNH. You by all rights SHOULD refuse, but that is what it would take. We need scoring. If we move Pesce or Hamilton, a sure fire scorer MUST be coming back.

ALSO, to clarify the “trade rumors” around Dougie Hamilton, the truth is that we need to move ONE defender. The cheapest to acquire is TVR. Faulk can probably be had for a 1st and a pick. Pesce and Hamilton are highly valued assets and will only be dealt for a SIGNIFICANT upgrade to our goal scoring.

So...

As it stands rn, the 6th OA pick, Puljujarvi, and Talbot for Hamilton

Holy overpay. That's a hard pass 10 times out of 10.

For a guy that hovers around 20 minutes a game (career average) is already 25 and needs to be attached at the hip to a stud like Giordano to play top pair calibre hockey.

Wouldn't even do this if you took back Lucic as well, that 1st is just way too valuable to us.

Carolina is trying to get into the playoffs for the first time in 10 years. They are 9th in the east and want a hockey trade for a forward not a project and magic beans.

Edm should be rebuilding not trading futures for a prime RD.

Carolina 1st, Bean, Fox, Kuokkanen for Draisaitl makes more sense than this.

That shitty trade would make the Oilers fan base just quit. All the shit we've through then that. That would be the last straw.

Team would be shortly moved to Houston.

It's bad both ways. The Canes can only afford to move one of Hamilton or Pesce and need to get the best immediate return 1-for-1 offensive F they can. Doing this means we're not getting that F for Hamilton and can't move Pesce to get it either.

We'd be interested, I think, in Talbot separately...but not as part of a package for Hamilton (or Pesce) because we need that deal to bring back "best forward possible" and any + reduces value of main piece.

We're looking to leave our rebuild so a 1st, even a high 1st, is only desirable in so far as it only costs us unneeded spare assets.

I have literally sub-zero interest in JP. I soured on him his draft year, playing with Karpat. Aho babysitting him was the reason IMO he didn't drop out of the high 1st and I believe Aho would have had an even more amazing season freed from carrying Puljujarvi. I want him as far as possible from Aho...for Aho's benefit.

Not a very well thought out trade, Edmonton’s been on record saying we won’t trade our first. Now this report on Pujujarvi’s value, not to mention it wouldn’t make sense for Carolina to trade Hamilton. They do have too many RHD, but Hamilton’s their best and he should be the last one they look to trade.

Pesce's our best...and the hardest to replace from within. We don't know for certain because Waddell is hardly risk-adverse and willing to overpay for what he wants...but we'd hope Pesce is simply unavailable.

However, the rest of the post is pretty spot-on.

RNH for Hamilton + 1st rounder, and hell, why not, you can have Ferland too. If you don't want Ferland you can flip him for a 2nd easily at the deadline.

the oilers need to free up 1.2 cap just to get sekera off ir...so then they add 750k in salary and need to call up a tender
(Montoya) putting them 3 mil away from getting sekera off IR? makes 0 sense.

keep the pick and sell off guys like talbot, petrovic, chiasson, rieder for whatever you can get

The Oilers traded Hall for Larsson. By comparison RNH for Hamilton is a great deal for them.
