The trick here is to infer absolutely nothing about the core squad, preseason is nothingness personified. The two goalies with something to prove, Robertson and the fringe players, only things of note. The defensive structure is abysmal in preseason, ditto the first three weeks of the season for that matter.

Not going to waste time reading it, but unless the article expects us to have two of Marner/Matthews/Tavares to go down for the whole season, I don't think there is much of an argument.

I honestly think it is possible to still make it with two of them going down... Tavares/Matthews would be hard to overcome though.

There is a chance for The Leafs or any team to miss. It is only training camp.
