Lines in the 2nd group

Gaudette - Tavares - Marner
Malgin - Holmberg - Nylander

Giordano - Holl
Kral - Dahlstrom

Holmberg is getting a legit looksee I think. I like that kid.

And they really want to see whether the last two shit years for Gaudette were that injury/sickness thing.

And I'm not sure that we should be shocked at a setup of

Line 1: Matthews
Line 2: Tavares-Marner
Line 3: Nylander

at some point.
Keefer talked all last summer about building 3 productive scoring lines .. then as pre season wore on he went back to 2 lines .. given lack of talent upfront I expect same end result again this year .. it is his dream setup but it appears not to have legs once real games start

They need to find 2 players with solid offensive abilities.
Bunting-Matthews-marner
Kerfoot-Tavares-Nylander

If you can find two, you could redistribute all the players from the 2nd. line.

Maybe I am missing context for your comment but I don't think we would be considered a team that has "a lack of talent up front".

We had four scorers in the top 45 of league and six in the top 130 and we can add Engvall, Jarnkrok and Robertson to that group.

I don't think there are many teams in the league that can boast more top 9 depth than the Leafs.

Bunting / Matthews / Marner
Kerfoot / Tavares / Robertson
Jarnkrok/ Engvall / Nylander

Maybe Malgin cracks it...maybe NAK becomes another Bunting?

They need to get Nylander and Tavares working together so they can be effective in the playoffs, but at the same time it’s a good idea to have them on separate lines from time to time in order to distribute ice time and keep them rested.

Jankrok is responsible defensively and can handle the puck enough to give him a shot on the 2nd line.

I could swear I was at Islanders forum
What's up with all the Lou talk?

So, who's looking good in our camp?
Is Steeve and Anderson another name for McDavid? .... One of them should make the team. How do you not beat out Simmonds for a role?

Who's going to be our whipping boy this year? Kerfoot?
I say Murray and I say it will take about another 3 weeks

Who has new gfs, how hot are they?

That's the kind of stuff I want to know.... I don't care about the Isles
With so many fingers on triggers i'll go with the 1st goal.

So you're giving him a pass on the warm-up?

This is kind of exciting.

I know they could have re-signed Campbell, but what the heck is in the box?

Could have a tonne of changes in the bottom 6.

Could a couple prospects actually be given an opportunity?

TRAIKOS trying to take over from Simmons:

Could the Maple Leafs actually miss the playoffs this year?

Of the 4 or 5 teams that we think will win the eastern conference, at least one will struggle to make the playoffs, but the Leafs are the most unlikely team to miss, IMO.

My guess would be one one of the Florida teams. TB could be tired and Florida lost too much. Having said that, either could win the Atlantic.

Matthews calling Malgin a beast is good news.

Me thinks Malgin was calling Matthews a beast, but whatever works.

Jack Campbell and Auston Matthews were Leafs co-MVPs last season contributing both to Leafs 115 point season and both players represented the Leafs in the All-Star game being named to the event based on their performances.

If Jack Campbell's personal stats at .914 sv% and 2.64 GAA are considered crap then we have the base line established for the new goalies to finish above this season. Wonder if Matt Murray will be named to the All-Star game coming hot out of the gate winning 15 of his first 20 games playing .750 hockey.
Co? Really? 60 goals man! I loved Campbell but try and be somewhat objective here. He had a great start and finish but that middle stretch of the season was horrible. And lengthy.
