It's a good message to send both to Dubas and Keefe. No protecting favorites on the roster or on the ice without a price being paid. Hardly lame duck. It provides an incentive to put the team above relationships.
That said, it is likely Holl is a lame duck defender.

Earlier in the thread, I remember someone saying there were some injuries which were going to affect the cap and someone commented that we have videos of everyone skating but Murray. I haven't seen anything official, though.

Anyways, love this quote I just saw from Bunts - this is the attitude you love to see. Guy is a warrior.

Bunting has been a great find for us. Hopefully he repeats last season, or even grows as a player. It seems improbable that he's back after this season though, so hopefully one of our many LW prospects can grow into that spot. Tough act to follow though.

Well we know who the injured players are now. So there's nothing to be said about Murray and anything "official". He's healthy.

Bunting has been a great find for us. Hopefully he repeats last season, or even grows as a player. It seems improbable that he's back after this season though, so hopefully one of our many LW prospects can grow into that spot. Tough act to follow though.

I thought the same thing, but we have Kampf, Simmer, Holl, Kerfy and potentially a few other guys coming off the books. I know we need to preserve space for upcoming AM and Nylander deals, but I think we might find space to keep Bunts. I am not sold on Muzzin actually playing many games over the next 2 seasons.

jeez if nylander maintains his skating at 204 pounds, watch out.

He most likely just coming in at 204 and be in the 190s at the end but 190s is still massive for his body type.

With Nylander that’s 204 pounds of lean muscle. Guy is shredded, a beast in the gym. Second best Leaf in the gym after Rielly.

Bunting had 63 points last year.

If he repeats, he could get $6-7.5 mil as a UFA..... We certainly should not be trying to sign that contract. Is even a team discount of $5 mil wise? Are AM and MM willing to take the same, or less than their current deal, to keep that line together? Doubt that to be honest. Bunting is very good, but I don't consider him a core player.

I get your point on Muzzin, but if Muzzin is done, we will need to fill his physicality shoes somehow, and that likely won't be cheap either.

Mik got overpaid, and I don't think the hockey world underestimates the role of AM-MM in inflating Bunt's numbers. I don't see the 7.5m figure being realistic unless the cap goes up like 8 million.

I could see Bunts sign for 4m long term if he never hits the market. He can't PK, drive a line, doesn't defend well. He's our poor man's Palat.

Posted a pic in August on IG with his dog. Lean as hell. He clearly plans to crash the net in the playoffs again.

Not really a surprise anymore that he held off Sergachev when crashing in game 1.

He doesn't peel away if he calculates his chances to win are high. Otherwise why pile on unnecessary wear and tear. You might not like that but I'd rather he play all 82 games + playoffs. You should go check what Pronger said this summer about the regular season grind + playoffs and re-think if you want your skill forwards going into the corner every single time. There are a total number of zero skill forwards that do that. Watch Panarin and Pasta games and you will see they do the exact same thing. If it's not worth it they peel away.

Regardless, how many players that engage in ALL board battles can also shield the puck, spin off defenders and drop the shoulder like Nylander? You wouldn't trade any of that just so Nylander impresses you in the corner more
