I have never seen a more diluted NHL as now.. it's basically a .500 league atm, with a few gems in the top 5. Same bottom 5 as usual. 22 teams are basically a coin flip
Too many teams , lack of skills , injuries somehow getting worse nowdays , lack of determination for alot of players when they hit the bank.

Top goalies nowadays aren't even that great. Goalies struggle to stick at .900 . Nhl using shit rules and still living in the past.

League should have 24 teams at best. A big overall average teams can somehow make it in the top4.

I don't really see it as a bad thing tbh.. the quality of play is far better than a few decades ago, you actually need all 4 lines nowadays.. similar to the nfl, things can change from year to year. The best GMs are managing the winning teams, true builders..

I'm old enough to remember if a goalie had a sub3.00 GAA they were amazing. Im rather happy to be free of the goaltender era. Give me 5-4 games every day of the week.

5-4 games are sometimes fun but games like Buffalo Habs was a complete shit show. Both goalies couldnt save a puck. I think the league could easily make fix to make the league more relevant by just removing the OT points and give 3 points in regulation , teams from east/west would actually try to play hockey.

I agree with you.. maybe more 4:3 games (than 5:4).

I like OT (im not a fan of ties in any sport).

But the easy fix is to award 3pts for win in regulation.. 2pts ot/s win, 1pt ot/s loss
Each game has 3pts value, you win in reg you take all 3 pts, and so on..

I hate how some games are only worth 2pts (if you win reg) but another game awards 2pts AND 1pt to loser in OT thus offering more point value.. it doesnt make sense to distribute its wirth this way.. no ither spirt does this.

I really hate giving points to a losing team. It's like you lost but here is a reward because you played an extra 5minutes.

Just look at the standings if 3 points for regulation , 2 points for win in OT and 0 for losing in general how the standings would be different , its crazy

we could really end up with the 4th overall MTL, 14th overall CGY and 36th MTL 37th PIT, that would be hugeeeeee for the rebuild, so huge. And for christ sake DON'T TRADE those picks for underachieving first rounder

Hage is not going to take over the 1C spot from Suzuki.. he's a classic 2C.. very good 2C..
Demidov is a winger, enough of this Centre talk. We don't need to reinvent Demidov.. why? Bc we dont have a 2C? Screw that.. did Washington ever consider putting Ovechkin at C? No..

Based on the search results, here’s a summary of Ivan Demidov’s preferences and abilities at the center position:

Comfortable playing center: Demidov has mentioned that he prefers playing center over wing, citing that it allows him to be more creative and have a better vision of the game. (Source: “Ivan Demidov prefers center to wing - Dose.ca”)

Played center in pre-season tournament: During the Puchkov pre-season tournament, Demidov played center and made highlight-reel plays, showcasing his ability to create scoring chances and dominate games from the middle of the ice. (Source: “September 2024 – After captaining the Russian U23 team, and scoring five points in the Puchkov pre-season tournament, Ivan Demidov officially earned a spot on Roman Rotenberg’s SKA roster in the KHL.”)

Elite creativity and puck skills: Demidov’s scouting reports highlight his exceptional handling, passing, and shooting abilities, which would be valuable assets at the center position. (Source: “2024 Draft Prospect Profile: Ivan Demidov is another top Russian winger - The Cannon”)

Potential to develop into a two-way center: While Demidov’s defensive play could use improvement, his intelligence, passing ability, and engagement off-puck suggest he has the potential to develop into a well-rounded, two-way center. (Source: “2024 Draft Prospect Profile: Ivan Demidov is another top Russian winger - The Cannon”)

In summary, Ivan Demidov has expressed a preference for playing center, has experience playing the position in pre-season tournaments, and possesses elite creativity and puck skills that would be valuable at the center position. With further development, he may become a well-rounded, two-way center.

Good tank game so far, we need to bring down our winning percentage. Schaffer won’t slip.
We need Schaefer he would change everything for this team. There's probably no #1 centers in this draft who can take the spot from Suzuki. Pray that Schaefer falls to us. If not Schaefer then Martone. Hagens is too small, enough with that, we need more size.

Yeah, no. Misa could become better than Suzuki. Hagens too.

I'm all for Scharfer, but saying there's no #1C capable of surpassing Suzuki is wrong. We just don't know.

Good game for the tank.

We outplayed them, they just got a hand from the refs. And we didn't get any points in the standings.

Possibly there is one, but i would go with the big winger Martone if I had my pick at the forwards. He's a unicorn and those players are usually not available throught any other means, you need to draft one. He would change our offense and make us that much bigger and badder.

Wait wasn't Slaf supposed to be exactly what you described. Unicorn. Not available. Only way to get one. Could say the same thing about a #1C or #1D.

Whoever has the most talent will change our offense the most. Not size.

Slaf is a unicorn just beginning his career. Agreed, and Martone has that talent. I would go Schaefer first, my second pick is Martone. I agree about size but we already have enough small players, I think it matters most in the playoffs. Hagens is small, Misa has good size and has bein trending upwards.
