Of course Jake was picked right before me...

At 52nd overall Toronto selects Jakub Lauko from Pirati Chomutov...

Will add bio later, I'm going back to sleep.

@Habs76

There goes one of my top picks left... still raw and inconsistent, but damn his skating is something else, if he manages to get his skill up to his speed, watch out.

Nice one !

@Habs76

I was a bit surprised to see him last to this point, but then again, I was hoping to get one of Fonstad, Hillis, Wise and O'Brien at this point. Barely was able to, it seems!

It's just so exciting to see these prospects (I'll include Lacko, too) lasting until now considering where the Habs will be drafting. I do not expect us to pick 4 times in the 2nd round, be it because we traded for a player or traded up in the first round, but I do like our prospects at netting 6 solid prospects in the first 3 rounds. That would be huge in terms of replenishing our prospect pool that's been lackluster for too many years now.

Bingo.

Especially now that someone in the organization seems to have got its head out of its ass and fired some clowns who were detriment (more to come I hope), I finally have hope for our prospects, and those 4 2nd rounders are god-given...

What a vision by MB to ask for that 2019 CHI 2nd rounder and not the 2018 or 2017. Wisdom in action, right there :sarcasm:

I'm a devil's advocate on Lauko. I don't like him. Though I understand why people love his tools. He's either gonna make me look really bad or prove me right. Don't think there's an in between for him.

I agree, feels like a very boom or bust pick. 2nd and 3rd round picks feel perfect for these kind of players, not quite consistent enough to go in the 1st but they definitely have skill. I'm hoping the Habs take some chances using their four 2nd rounders this year.

:pens select, from the Wenatchee Wild of the BCHL...

LHD Stanislav Demin

"Slava is a big defenseman with good size, skating and smarts. His upside is high, and we feel he might've fallen a bit due to playing in such an under-the-radar league." 0.675 PPG in the BCHL for a defenseman is impressive considering all he brings defensively. We feel Slava will benifite greatly from the NCAA route."

With the 55th selection, Arizona Coyotes are proud to select, from Mamonty Yugry of the MHL, winger Kirill Marchenko

"Marchenko is a big, skilled winger with very good hands and creativity, protects the puck very well with his long reach. Needs to work on his skating, particularly his acceleration. Needs to bulk a lot, too. Had a very good U-18 tournament, and good MHL playoffs with Yugry to top his season. Top-6 player written all over him, if everything falls into place."

By curiosity, how long is your list?

140 players this year, with an additional 26 players listed on my ND list.

I used to compile a list that was as long as the NHL draft, but I've adjusted my list this year to only really include players I see legitimate NHL upside in and think are worthy of a draft pick. I also used to rank those NDs (unless they were pure NDs) on my list where I thought they were worth being picked, but some players you can tell through trends they are going to go higher than you are willing to select them, so I've left them on my ND list.

So really my no draft list is "Players I wouldn't select where they are likely to go"

The Montreal Canadiens are proud to select Jack Drury, from the Waterloo Black Hawks.

Jack has quite the release, and can score from any angle. We feel as though he's a multidimensional threat and we love how he keeps his head up and sees the ice in front of him.
He's a player that will need to bulk up and work hard but we like his dedication to the game and feel as if he will be a strong addition to our organization.

The Montreal Canadiens are proud to select Allan McShane, from the Oshawa Generals.

Allan is a true centre who will provide you with effort at both ends of the rink. He's great in the cycle and has the vision to pick out his teammates. He doesn't have an elite shot, but he's shifty to put himself into positions where he can score with ease. We project him to be a middle six centre in the future and he's a glue guy, someone who will bring the best out of his teammates, and we like that about him.

The Vegas Golden Knights are now on the clock.
@calder candidate

Will PM.

Montreal Canadiens' draft so far:

3 - Adam Boqvist
35 - Bulat Shafigullin
38 - Jonny Tychonick
56 - Jack Drury
57 - Allan McShane

A little bit disappointed that some of my picks came off the table in the middle of the 2nd round, but am still happy overall so far.
