Official 2025 NHL DRAFT Discussion (UPD: UHC wins 2nd Lottery, will have 4OA pick.)

I don’t have the words

How many draft lotteries have I watched ?

It’s wierd the first lottery after the first season leaving AZ

This is the first year I never bothered looking up any of the players…

I was resigned to picking around 14-15, and I think I said earlier something like "if we somehow move up to 4th, great, if not, whatever."

Past the top 10 is usually around when I start not knowing anything about who's still available starting a few years ago. I used to delve deeper, and I guess it helped that the Coyotes were generally picking in the top 10 anyway.

Looking at the top-ranked North American and European prospects that are currently up on the Wikipedia article about the draft, I've heard of 5 of them, and have never seen any of them play.

Vancouver fan coming in peace. Congrats on moving up. Any chance that you might be open to moving one Hayton now that he can potentially be replaced with the draft? If so what would the ask be or positions of need for you guys? Or is this a total pipe dream on our part?

First mock draft I've seen has us taking Hagens.

C
5'11"
176lbs.

"A solid, reliable leader who at worst feels like an incredible third-line center. There might be some questions about Hagens’ size, but he plays bigger than his frame and offers huge upside as a locker room culture builder."

NHL mock draft 2025: Instant projection after lottery determines order

Not the most exciting player description I've ever read. Especially about a potential top 5 pick.

That's from February. He returned and played like a monster after that.

I'm not saying he doesn't have back problems but I haven't seen anything that confirms he does.
The same thing happened with Cayden Lindstrom last year. He came back and everyone said he was fine. Then he proceeds to miss most of this season with a back injury. I like the player, but im not wasting a 4th pick on a player who has had back issues already. Especially when there better players and he’s already a reach at 4.

Hagens is all skill. Compares to Keller.

Lindstrom wasn't healed from the injury at the draft. He didn't do physical testing because he had a bad back.

It's very possible that McQueen's fracture was healed months ago and hasn't been a problem since.

He missed time in the playoffs and I would really like to know why. If it was his back that hadn't healed properly it would be a much bigger concern than if he sprained his wrist.

We'll find out in a few weeks at the combine. I understand that you're mind is made up on this player, but mine isn't.
