I really hope we move Crouse at the deadline. I want a hockey trade but right now I would be happy with picks

I'm also ready to ship him out. I don't think his value is very high right now, but I'd rather cut bait on him by the deadline than see if he improves (whether for a future trade for a better return or in hopes that he contributes to the team going forward).

I just came across this interview from almost a week ago. BA talks more about the plan. Some details I haven't heard from him before, like expecting to be in the playoffs next season and legit contenders by 2028 with (about) a 4 year window starting at that time. I thought this was a very insightful interview from BA on coming out of the rebuild.

Good interview. Morgan should take note.

You just made my case for me. This was just another fluff peace. The other had BA talking in depth about the team, and it was the first time I heard BA say that he expects the team to be in the playoffs next year.
No NHL team would find it acceptable to hire a GM, make the playoffs in year 6 and be a cup contender in years 9-13, that is what he is saying. Basically this means its ok to miss the playoffs 5 years in a row, so no accountability until year 6. In year 6 if you miss the playoffs, then you missed a bogie, until then, there is no way to miss a bogie. If you make the playoffs in year 6 then you are good as long as you make the playoffs in years 6, 7, and 8. Its not until years 9-13 that you need to start contending, win a round or two, maybe 3.

NHL GMs last 4 years on average. The timeline BA lays out puts him under no pressure to perform. He points out in his interview the length of time for other teams to become consistent cup contenders. What he fails to mention is the GM and coaching changes that occurred along the way as those teams stumbled in their rebuilds.

There are no guarantees that his plan will work, I hope it does and I hope we can rally and make the playoffs this year. The one thing BAs strung out plan buys is job security for BA. This strategy of no accountability until years 6 and then 9-13 would never work in another market, and I'm not sure Smith will buy into it either. BA has the advantage of kind of a fresh start in Utah, so maybe he is ok for another year.
