Offer sheet for 2C?

I just don’t see how the Habs can conjure a blue-chip 2C by trade, and UFA centers this summer are lacking.

Is there an RFA we could swing for, given the plethora of picks available to give, by overpaying for a center more capable than Dach (perhaps on a cash-strapped team)?

Vilardi, Peterka, Rossi, McTavish, Voronkov and Johnston are your best RFA centers. Vilardi and Peterka spend most of their time at wing. Rossi is good but tiny. McTavish isn’t trending in the right direction and would be similar to the risk we took with Dach. I’m a fan, but not sure Voronkov is a fit at 2C. I don’t see a reason that any of them would want to sign an offer sheet from MTL.

Might not be a better option than UFA or trade but I’d take a look at McTavish and Voronkov.

...isn't Voronkov a winger??... :dunno:

A 2C hard to find. Neither Bergevin not Hughes was able to acquire one. Other than Suzuki. Maybe Danault on his career year.

We gave up a mid first and early 3 and 4 for Dach and it hasn't worked out. Trade likely not neither.

Aim for this draft to get top 6 center I would.

Johnston is the best option of the lot, but DAL would never let him go and would match the offer sheet. I'm not for these offer sheets with MON being such a young team and being ripe for offer sheets made to their best players over the next few years.

I wouldn't want Montreal to paint a target on its back for other teams over the coming years.

Due to the fact that a lot of dinosaur GMs don't want to trade within their division or conference, I think offer sheets should take place within the division/conference. For example when St Louis picked up Dylan Holloway.

But I don't see a lot of options this summer.

Love offer sheets and they should be used by everyone if it makes sense for that particular team. Nothing personal, just business
