That Reese trade was poorly timed
Don't worry Moreno is in AAA he'll be ready soon ;)

I don't get the logic of playing Collins over Tapia or Biggio. Biggio can't recover his form, and Tapia can't justify trading Grichuk if they rarely play.

Oh, well. Maybe the Jays aren't starting so hot but I'm off to a great start. Ryu and Kikuchi have been blah, Manoah great, Espinal great, Vladdy fine but man so many double plays with runners on, Springer tied for the home run lead, and Jansen was even looking pretty good there for a bit. Gurriel...not so much.

But still way too early, right?

So you predicted that players who were good last season would be good this season, and players that were bad last season would be bad this season?

I think he's arguing that playing Collins over those two is stupid because if they don't ever get to play, they won't perform.

Also, looking at the Jays offensive contributions, the top 6 are regulars, Gurriel, Bo, and Kirk have started slow (but all are near locks to turn things around), Biggio will obviously get better too, then you have all the players that we have been questioning why they are on the roster and why they are playing.

Sure, Tapia will improve as well, but he shouldn't be playing 2 of the first 5 unless guys actually need a day off. And Montoyo has shown time and time again that whoever his primary DH is, he will move others from the same position into the role to cover.

So while we were projecting for Kirk as DH, we now have Heineman and Collins (two replacement level catchers). This is where a Greg Bird would have been nice.

I was referring to TGB’s “great start” (2nd part of his post).

One thing to note - I am not suggesting that we make knee-jerk adjustments.

I would demote a catcher (don't really care which one), and alternate DH between Biggio and Zimmer playing more (instead of unnecessarily putting two C in the lineup). Kirk should be playing 4 of 5 while Jansen is hurt.

Where Tapia only plays LF, he could spell Gurriel if Lourdes needs a DH day. Biggio essentially spells the whole infield because he plays 1B and 2B and the left is covered by Espinal with him playing 2B on that day.

You could get away with DHing OFers more, or playing Gurriel at 1st and getting Zimmer into the lineup. But having Zimmer DH kind of defeats his purpose to the team. Tapia can also play all three OF positions but having both him and Zimmer in would be less than ideal. Jays would be better off with Otto over Tapia to provide some more positional flexibility.

I was thinking that Zimmer could play the OF and we would be DHing Teo or Gurriel in that case. I would call up Lopez if we sent down a C (I'm not sure why he was sent down).

Guy approaches the opposing dugout and yells something that clearly offended an opposing coach and the coach in the dugout gets thrown out for instigating.

The best part is "Vladdy fine but man so many double plays with runners on".

It's so frustrating... we're only five games into the season and Vladdy is already up to 0 GDP on the season!

The bright side of Bichette playing hero ball at the plate so far this year :p

The beautiful game

Those are actually 1 and 2 overall.

Also, the game between Texas and Toronto on the 9th was actually the worst called game of the year for accuracy (the 10th was only 2nd worst).

Put another way, only 12 games have featured 15 or more missed calls so far and Toronto has been involved in 3 of them.

Also, FWIW, the other 2 games were .48 and .42 in favor of Toronto and involved double-digit mistakes as well.
