At this point, Espinal should be starting more often. He's a better player than Biggio in every aspect of the game right now. Being a lefty and having the last name Biggio are the only things he has on Santi

So my favorite longshot prospect might be a bit of a hothead. Dominguez coming in relief(piggybacking?) for Dunedin. Has a great first 2 innings with 4 K's. Gets a 5th K before giving up a HR in his 3rd inning. After great command the next pitch hits the next batter in the shoulder. The very next pitch in and high(but misses) the next batter. Benches clear and him and the catcher(?) get tossed.

No idea what the HR hitter did. Trying to hit the next 2 batters seems completely uncalled for. Especially high. I've never seen someone succeed in hitting someone on purpose and then try to hit the next guy as well. Maybe a coincidence.

yeah it's not like Ryu is some bum but you also want to split up Berrios/Gausman with Manoah so hitters have a different look and don't get family with similar type of pitchers in consecutive days. Also don't want the 2 lefties back to back

Gausman looked alright. Hard to make a concrete judgment when he was getting screwed by the umpire all game long basically taking his strikeout pitch away from him.

Fastball wasn't sharp but it's his first start. I imagine once he's loosened out things will be better.

Very curious to see how Ryu looks. I've always wondered how long a low velocity, pitch to contact guy like him would last in a game where the lay of the land is to try and smash the ball to the next area code.

Texas should be a good opening test with all the thunder they have in the upper half of the lineup.

I would have played Zimmer. Springer likely will need a few rest days so I don't mind him getting the day off from playing CF. Also, Tapia shouldn't be batting 7th.

I don't see the need for Tapia playing 2 out of 3 games. So if they are of the mind Springer needs rest I get it, but then don't DH Gurriel yesterday. Tapia should not be playing 2 out of every 3 games. I also would have used Zimmer given we used Tapia yesterday but I didn't expect him to get into a game this soon anyway.

I agree. I don't think DHing Gurriel yesterday was smart although he might have tweaked something and needed some rest. I know Springer will have quite a few days DHing which sucks but that does make sense.

In light of Hunter Greene and Heliot Ramos debuting/being promoted I am reminded of the immense potential and hype that came with that 2017 draft. The Greene/McKay angle came just a couple years too early. Here’s hoping Pearson can shake the 2017 bust vibes off.

Ohashi 4 innings of no hit ball with 10 K's for Dunedin today. He was on the radar a bit last year but had a not great year because of 8 walks per 9. Still only 19.

Interesting arm. Strikes out a ton but was thought to be a reliever when drafted. Instead they're moving him quick AND making him a starter? I'm here for it
