I respect the optimism of those in this thread making trade proposals but judging from the leaks we've heard so far, the deal to acquire JRam is probably going to have a base of atleast Gurriel + Orelvis with added bells and whistles.

They have no offensive production from their everyday outfielders and judging by their rumoured ask, I have to imagine they're demanding Martinez if the Jays are taking out Manoah and Moreno. They seem to be telling the public that they're content on competing now-ish so Biggio, Otto Lopez, and Samad Taylor all could be added pieces.

Not sad about Freeman. Would love Ramirez (but more than a little scared about the price).

Depending on which Biggio you get....the injured 2021, or the 5 war'ish 2019/2020 version (159 games), I would say LF with Gurriel.
I would agree with you. All Biggio has to do is get back to getting on base. Even if he's in the #9 spot getting the top of the lineup back to the plate with a chamce of driving him in is all he needs to do besides playing good D.

I'm not a big fan of Gurriel but his arm is incredible. Pretty streaky hitter. When he's hot he's really hot. But when he's off he looks terrible. I actually prefer Grichuk to him.

Conforto is the best lefty free agent bat available with the most upside. Give him a 3 year deal, front load it and pay more for shorter term. Keep Gurriel but still go hard for Ramirez. I’ll go Kirk+Biggio+Hiraldo for Ramirez.

1. Springer
2. Conforto (L)
3. Gurrerro
4. Ramirez (L)
5. Teoscar
6. Bichette
7. Chapman
8. Gurriel Jr.
9. Jansen/Moreno

That’s pretty close to what the dodgers have.

People keep saying Conforto is unvaccinated - this is obviously a huge hurdle for us or it probably would be done already.

One thing that we haven't talked about is that playing 3rd every day might have contributed to Biggio's injuries.

Every ball hit far to one side or the other is high impact on the body (which would be worse for someone who as a 2B isn't used to it).

The more this trade happens the more I see how it works for the A's.

They get a high-end pitching prospect who could be much better and much closer than we expect him to be. They get a major league ready SS/3B with control that's coming off a massive bounceback season. A pitcher who realistically will start for them this season, and a guy who put up good numbers in a small sample in the majors last year.

They're all unsexy, blocked guys for us (besides Hoglund, obviously) so it feels like it didnt hurt at all, but they pretty much took the guys arguably first in line to be callups who have only improved over the last few years. Such an A's trade and likely (hopefully for them) it works out much better than the Donaldson one except against us. I really do hope Smith especially becomes something.

On TSN 1050 this morning, Buster Olney said he is taking us to win the WS this year and he expects us at some point to trade for JRam sometime in the summer, if not during spring training.

No chatter on Kenley. No chatter on Conforto. Haven't heard anyone other than the Twins maybe kicking tires on Story. Maybe we can get a good deal if we wait them out.

Here's something that caught my eye:

Meadows on the move?

One name being prominently mentioned in trade talks is Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Austin Meadows. The 26-year-old hit .234 with 27 home runs and 107 RBI last season. Meadows has two years of control remaining with a $4 million salary for 2022.
