There are a handful of guys on that list that would be great. I'd like to see us add at least one UFA forward to give us a little more depth, create internal competition, etc. Obviously Husso would be great. 👌
NRD and Merriman mentioned they think the contact for Husso would be problematic for the Sabres.

No Sabres on Campbell
Subban to a "playoff contender" 🤔

That's fine, but unless they're actually privy to negotiations (which haven't even started yet), they don't know anything.
or they have heard about the kind of money/term Husso wants and it doesn't meet KA's rolling eyes, hesitancy and general skittishness after 2 years.

Its a solid opinion from 2 guys more about straight shooting than b.s.'ing

Could be. Either or. I'm just not going to get hung up on rumours too much at this point one way or another. We only have to wait a handful of days more to find out. :)

I never said I wanted him here. He has worked his ass off to get where he is and would make sense for a cap team like Tampa.

Yes, and good for him. But he's more likely going to command more $ than a team like Tampa wants to spend, or Pittsburgh which is why he hasn't be re-signed.

He should go to a team like SEA, CHI, CLB, etc., and get max $$ he can.

He's a classic tweener: not skilled/consistent enough to produce in the top 6 and doesn't have the ideal tools to fill a 3rd or 4th line role. He's a good swiss army type for a weaker team.

Marchment seems like a contender for me to get a massive overpay based on being on a top team in the league and going on a crazy streak after not showing much promise in his career before that. 58 points in 91 games, and 47 came from last season alone at age 27. Sprinkled with mediocre AHL production. It’s hard to gauge what would be a fair price.

He’s still very good defensively and physical. People think he will get anywhere between 3m - 4.5m. How much would you pay for a 40ish point winger, who’s big, physical and very good defensively?

I’d be alright with that price tag with mid term. I remember seeing a month ago some people estimating ~6m which is just too much for his track record.

Oh god I don’t touch 6m at all. I wouldn’t mind giving him term though even in the 4s. Those kinds of players are valuable and can be tough to find.

He knows where they are. It’s why he keeps telling us about the cost and not wanting to block guys three years away as if those are valid excuses
Well, he's not an idiot, there must be some reason and these are not the owners, since we are below the floor of the cap. Levi and Portillo are still 2-3 years from the NHL. UPL has proven nothing and gets injured. Anderson I think will be not bad backup for 20-25 games without a heavy load, but we need a starter, or at least a goalie who could become a starter. I already agree even to some Vanecek or something similar.

I just keep reminding myself that this year the Sabres will be adding real rookie seasons from the top D (And overall) prospect In hockey, the AHL leading rookie scorer and the AHL highest points per game rookie and that these are somehow three different people.
