KA must have gotten a call, not sure what would even be interesting enough from Montreal that wouldn't be unreasonable.

Just playing along for the heckuva it --

26 and 33 would have to be on the table. After that? Boy, their stable is unimpressive. Roy and/or Kidney would need to be included. Savard might be a nice veteran add to RHD.

With Puljujarvi wanting out of Edmonton I'm kind of hoping he's the one KA might have alluded to having conversations about. Too many wingers or not, he's a player I'd want.

So why is Chris Drury rumored to be interested ?

i think they-are looking for a center.
Yep no playoffs again or is it still? Another rebuild coming though with Detroit and Ottawa loading up.
I do understand this, getting rid of a losing culture can take a decade or longer, it gets instilled in each new younger player that suffers it for too long.
Look at Dylan Strome, a few years in Arizona and it took him 4 or 5 to get it out of his system.

But very strong leadership from the room can over come the expected failures of the past.

Eichel would never be traded either, why wait until players give up?

How about Demko and Hughes?

Sure…hypothetically Dahlin could be available. I’m not trading him for expendable parts. I’d want missing pieces Buffalo actually needs.

Montreal doesn’t have squat to give up 9 for.

I think he has 3 yrs of team control left. He did not accrues an nhl season at 18 ( 2016/17) and he played a full year in Europe. He only has 4 seasons. I’m willing to kick the tires here with 3 years. I’m not mortgaging the house.

Merriman mentions he would love to to see Buffalo take a flyer on Adam Gaudette (starts about 15min)

NRD thinks the Sabres will be big game fishing for more goaltending help, both mention the Husso contract likely being prohibitive to them.

Take Chad DeDominicis for what you want but he’s tweeting out random q&a stuff mostly about draft preference and he said there was “some growing hope” Ryan Johnson might still sign this summer. He has never officially announced he’s going back fwiw. I haven’t heard anyone even speculate signing this off-season was still on the table. He also speculates like many of us that Levi signs after the year and Portillo walks. I think Portillo turning down a wide open net in the AHL when Levi stayed was pretty much the death knell on that at the time.

What is the extent of Chad's sources? I know of him but not really much else. (also which one of you on here is him ;))

Interesting he thinks Dahlin will be next captain and Tuch will be long-term assistant.

I don’t know. He’s been right on some stuff and way off on some stuff. I don’t honestly know if anyone in town has a source that close to the room at this point. That Johnson tidbit was just interesting to me because I haven’t heard anyone talk about anything with him in months…and this was kind of a specific answer

I think Chad has a source but he's guessing on some stuff too. He thinks the team will still sign PK and most likely trade for a rhd. So that's 2 new D?

Likewise, Lance is saying he doesn't think the Sabres will sign PK. (Play the young D)

I saw that about Johnson. Hope he’s right.

What would it take to trade Dahlin?

Would 2 veteran centers do it?

Just another Vancouver fantasy but wasting time anyway.

Quinn Hughes and Bo Horvat?
Demko and Garland?

Either deal probably puts the team in a playoff position or hunt

IMO there could be deals made to guarantee playoffs
Horvat + Hughes is a good offer and I think my fellow Buffalonians are being a bit harsh.

I think Hughes has already peaked and will continue playing at the level he's at now, which is a great player, but I don't think there's much room to grow.

Horvat is also a good player, but his ceiling doesn't seem much higher than he's playing now.

Dahlin's stats are a step behind Highes for now, but us Buffalo fans think he still has plenty of room to grow and we're just starting to see him take over games like a Lidstrom/Hedman type. We're still betting on Dahlin long term even if Hughes + Horvat is an obvious short term upgrade.

If they sign PK it’s a strong vet presence on the team.
he starts playing with Power the first 10 games of the season
thrn he plays more of a 6/7 role.

next year it would be
Samuelson-Dahlin
Power-Joki
Bryson-Fitz/PK

any other D is the AHL/NHL tweeners

they could as part of a trade bring in another RD. In such a circumstance things could change drastically.

I would not see us paying this price in any way ?

it makes no sense given buffalo drafting the last 2 years.
if the resign Olofsson to more than just 2 yr they would have him, Skinner, Tuch, Peterka, and Quinn in 5 of the top 6 winger spots
the other spot would likely go to ( tage, Krebs, mitts, Cozens, 2022 toys)

if they were to trade Olofsson then things could change

I’d love to add Letang on a 3-4 year deal and PK for possibly 2. Yeah it may block Bryson or Fitz but I don’t see either as anymore than 6/7 Ds.
Sammy-Dahlin
Power-Letang
Bryson-PK
Fitz
Jiricek waiting in the winds ;)
