What’s everyone’s opinion on Pearson? Would you be willing to move him to help improve the roster right now?

Depends on who's coming back. His upside is still a top-end starter if he can ever stay healthy, and more likely he's a backend reliever if the Jays give up on the starter dream.

He's basically high floor, high ceiling even with his age/injuries at this point and can only be traded if he's essentially the main piece in a trade.

I don't think Pearson has that much value at large. He's been hurt for the better part of two seasons and had pretty significant control issues once in the majors.

How the Jays see him and how the rest of the league see him is probably much different.

Exactly. So why give up a potential asset like him for pennies on the dollar. Either he has value to the trading team or he doesn't and you keep him and hope he can stay healthy & at least reach his floor as a dominant bullpen arm.

To Toronto-
Ramirez

To Cleveland-
Pearson
Gurriel
Groshans

That's the most I'm willing to let go for Ramirez. Gives Cleveland 2 great roster players and a great 3B/SS prospect who's very close to MLB ready.

And like others have said, if Gurriel goes out in the trade. You go out and sign Marte to replace him.

Marte signed with the Mets before the lockout.

Who’s the Marte people keep referencing?

Starling signed with the Mets and Ketel is with DBacks and we would need to trade for him

if Jays get JRam, can’t imagine they’d still have prospect capital to swing Ketel as well

Love the trade and got the exact player they needed. Only gave up 1 piece that hurts to lose but for one of the best players in the game that's a small return

I think most people are referring to a trade for Ketel, but the one I responded to talked about "signing" so I assumed he was talking about Starling.

also, i kinda want to grab conforto now as our lefty, can get for cheap i think, and he would prob rake in rogers center

Rosario back to the Braves. I strongly believe this front office is going all in and they're going to acquire Ramirez.

That's the issue. His trade value plummets knowing he doesn't make the projected starting rotation, but he's still valuable to the organization as a depth piece and potential relief option late in the season/postseason. I see Kirk/Moreno/Martinez/Groshans as the main trade chips now for a major piece (like JRam). Pearson could be in a package but by no means does he hold blue chip status at this point around the league.

So the 3B the Jays went for is the team I've suggested they should be dealing with this whole time. Sucks to lose so much pitching depth, but overall the price was better than I expected.

Another successful read!

He had been dealing with a sports hernia which he has said he altered his delivery to compensate around. That is nearly as significant as an arm injury. I don't think he has lost that much prospect lustre now that he had that surgically repaired, and apparently looks great and free again.

Control/command should be back too. Could be the rocket is getting ready to take flight.

Wow fantastic trade. Hoglund is a good prospect but not someone you should get upset over. Chapman helps a lot defensively with 30 HR power.
Now get a lefty batter or even Ramirez. Why not?

I was seriously worried about selling low on Groshans, Pearson or even having to give up Martinez after seeing the Olson deal. Hoglund was nice, and I was a fan of Smith. But that deal is a huge win in my mind. I wouldn't have even added Logue to the 40 man this offseason despite how well he pitched last year, and Snead was one of the first guys I would have dropped for new signings anyway.

Chapman and Schwarber would have been kind of perfect given we would have had the cash since the combine for similar to Freeman and LF/DH is still available and we still need a left handed hitter. Sad he's no longer an option. I don't love the rumoured deal he got but I don't hate it either I'd be all over Conforto if he's vaccinated at this point. I don't see Ramirez as realistic anymore given the rumoured price and now he'd be a 2nd baseman and we'd probably what to go more heavily on roster players(Biggio + Kirk + non Moreno/Martinez prospects)
