Just read through the Fangraphs top 37.

It's a little disappointing that Groshan's power hasn't developed.

If the velocity uptick on Tiedemann is real, he's our number 2 prospect otoh.

Loved Glanville as a player, and he comes across as level-headed as a broadcaster.

Silly thing that I always liked about Glanville: He's a big video game player and back in the day he actually played Everquest, an early MMORPG that was kind of like the prototype of World of Warcraft. As someone that also played Everquest at the time and knew that it was basically the nerdiest of nerdy nerd activities, it was fun knowing there was a pro athlete that did as well.

Curt Schilling also played, but f*** Curt Schilling he's a knob.

Eminems Flores? I guess his parents really liked the candy :sarcasm:

Idk I think Groshans having the advanced contact skills is more encouraging at this age. Players typically start to consistently tap into their power in their late 20s, no? One guy I can think of is Rendon.

Tiedemann does sound encouraging but I’m still curious how a post-TJ Hoglund will be. If the velocity is real I think I’d still have him around 4-5 with Groshans (I rate Leo behind them due to lack of power).

Blue Jays on Baseball America's Top 100:

2022 Top 100 Prospects
7) Gabriel Moreno (C)

Tools: Hit: 70 | Power: 50 | Run: 40 | Fielding: 55 | Arm: 60

Skinny: A fractured thumb limited Moreno to 37 games last season, but he showed premium hitting ability, growing power and plus defense behind the plate when he was healthy. As long as he stays on the field, he projects to give the Blue Jays yet another young, homegrown all-star.

62) Nate Pearson (RHP)
Tools: Fastball: 65 | Curveball: 50 | Slider: 60 | Changeup: 50 | Control: 45

Skinny: The giant righthander with the triple-digit fastball returned to Toronto late in the 2021 season and posted a 2.84 ERA with 20 strikeouts and seven walks across 11 relief appearances. Pearson's repeated injuries and inconsistent control make him a potential reliever rather than a starter, but he has excellent stuff.

75) Orelvis Martinez (SS/3B)
Tools: Hit: 50 | Power: 60 | Run: 40 | Fielding: 45 | Arm: 60

Skinny: Martinez slugged 28 home runs across both Class A levels in 2021 to establish himself as one of the top young sluggers in the lower levels of the minors. He is unlikely to stay at shortstop, but his bat will play just fine at third base.
For those interested, the current Top 5 in baseball is Adley Rutschman, Julio Rodriguez, Bobby Witt Jr., Riley Greene, and Spencer Torkelson.

Another Jose Fernandez? Besides the late Marlins pitcher(RIP) didn't we have another Jose Fernandez in our system? I think there's another couple hanging around in other organizations too. I would assume those are common names in the Latin America world but there's so many of them in the baseball world.

MLB trade scenarios: Jim Bowden evaluates your proposals for Josh Hader, Matt Chapman, Ketel Marte and more
Rockies trade RHP German Márquez and INF Ryan McMahon to Blue Jays for RHP Nate Pearson, SS Jordan Groshans, RHP Adam Kloffenstein and INF/OF Cavan Biggio — Chris W.

Chris, this is a fascinating trade idea and after careful review I’d make it if I’m the Blue Jays. Putting Márquez with Kevin Gausman, José Berríos, Hyun Jin Ryu and Alek Manoah in the rotation would make the Blue Jays my favorites to win the AL East in 2022. McMahon would fill their huge need for a left-handed bat and could be their answer at third base short- and long-term. I also like this deal for the Rockies. Pearson has a chance to dominate at Coors Field by missing bats, and he’s inexpensive compared with Márquez. Groshans and Biggio are everyday players and Kloffenstein profiles as a back-of-the-rotation starter. OK, let me forward this one to the Blue Jays and Rockies to get their opinions …

Sign me the F up for this trade. I'd gladly do this.

As much as I like Marquez, what’s the point of McMahon? He can barely even hit at Coors. There’s maybe an incentive to move Pearson + Groshans for Marquez but I don’t see the other players as necessary pieces in a deal.
Yea I don’t like the deal either.

If we can take out McMahon and Biggio out of the deal, i would do it. But if they insisted i wouldnt mind having Biggio and McMahon in the deal. Both players are similar as they are lefty bats and were around league average last year. The main difference is McMahon has near elite defense at 2B (8th in the league) and 3B (5th in the league). McMahon had a 4 bWAR and 2.5 fWAR season last year. He can provide value with Espinal as utility guys but the Jays will still need to add starting 3B.

Kloffenstein isnt an untouchable. Having him in the deal isnt a deal breaker for me.

So it comes down to Pearson and Groshans for Marquez.

Major League Leaderboards » 2021 » Pitchers » Dashboard | FanGraphs Baseball

Marquez has a higher career fWAR than Berrios in less innings and is a year younger. If 1.5 years of Berrios can get Martin and SWR then Pearson and Groshans for 3 years of Marquez is really light considering Pearson is only a year younger than Marquez, and maybe just a reliever.

To me its a no brainer, i easily make this deal and have no problems giving up those pieces if im guaranteed to have Berrios, Gausman, Marquez and Manoah together for at least 3 years for under $60M a year.

Today on The Athletic Jays and A's beat writers Kaitlyn McGrath and Melissa Lockard talk about the potential for a trade between the teams, specifically getting the Jays some infield and pitching help.

They eventually settled on a deal of

Chapman
Manaea

for

Groshans
Kevin Smith
Otto Lopez
Bowden Francis
Zach Logue

Sign me the hell up.

I just can't imagine the A's would go for that but if they did, I'd sign it in blood.

McGrath initially offered a better package of Groshans, Kirk, Tiedmann and Smith. then the A's writer came back by subbing out Kirk and Tiedmann for Lopez, Francis, and Logue arguing that the A's don't need/want any more catchers at the moment and usually look for more advanced pitchers than Tiedmann.

Just read this.

I do that immediately.

Groshans will likely be in the deal of whatever 3B we acquire, and I’m not really concerned about losing any of the other 4, given the depth of our prospect system.

Whether the A’s would? Who knows. Maybe they are super high on Groshans
