I would have figured he’d have seen it coming in the spring well before any of us simpletonsSo you are clueless about the situation. His agent screwed him

Lol yeah the Mariners are not a bottom dwelling team anymore. I know they played way over thier heads last season but there's a lot of upside on that roster and now they landed a top tier pitcher
What's wrong with freeman and vlad splitting time between 1st and DH?
freemans money is better spent elsewhere
How is Freeman's defense at 1st anyways? I'm too lazy to dig into it.Jays have a weak defense, to begin with. Freeman at first is a decline in defense and putting Vlad at third is a decline. I would much prefer to have a proper 3B. Keep Vlad at first.
This might cause a fan riot. I understand being hesitant about giving Vladdy big money like Tatis due to his previous weight issues, but trading him? That is insane. No point in listing a Vlad trade as a possibility. Teams don't trade 22 year old MVP candidates.
Totally agree with this. We weaken both 1B and 3B with such a move. Chapman/Ramirez + pitching please.Jays have a weak defense, to begin with. Freeman at first is a decline in defense and putting Vlad at third is a decline. I would much prefer to have a proper 3B. Keep Vlad at first.
How wild would the league be if they actually get their way?
Would they just assimilate everyone into two big ass east and west divisions? I don't want a a 12 team postseason and would counter with turning the wild card games into a full on series instead. Sure the AL would have benefited by you're telling me the Reds deserved a playoff spot this year? Nah.
If it gets the Rays out of our division I’d be willing to do almost anything.Only issue with a 2 division per league setup is that you're going to create unbalanced divisions, either by keeping teams in the same league and having to have 1 7-team division and 1 8-team division per league or by evening up the # of teams in each league by shifting one team to the other league at which point league A will have 14 teams in 2 7-team divisions and league B will have 16 teams in 2 8-team divisions.
I think the only way that aspect of the deal goes through is if expansion is agreed upon and I think we're headed that way too.Only issue with a 2 division per league setup is that you're going to create unbalanced divisions, either by keeping teams in the same league and having to have 1 7-team division and 1 8-team division per league or by evening up the # of teams in each league by shifting one team to the other league at which point league A will have 14 teams in 2 7-team divisions and league B will have 16 teams in 2 8-team divisions.
Shore up the pitching? So far as it stands....Forget Freeman. Sure, his bat would be welcome on this team, especially after losing Simien, however the Jays still need to shore up the pitching staff. Both the starters and the bullpen. I'm not confident that job can be done in-house. It looks like Shapiro and Atkins will have to eventually make a trade for more offense.
Well he couldn't get much worse. Then again, he was never that good to begin with. You hope he can be league average in the best case Ontario.
