I don't want to compromise on D at all. Freeman is a luxury and not a need. I'd rather get someone like Bryant or Chris Taylor and spend whatever else on upgrading the pen and getting SP depth.

And what is the plan if he is awful defensively again and you just gave Freeman $150+ million to play first base?

Seems like a pretty big risk when you can just target some you know is good at 3B like Bryant, Chapman, Ramirez, Suarez, etc.

I also think his defensive struggles impacted his confidence and subsequently his bat. He was really good at first, I'd rather just leave him there.

He needs surgery on a torn flexor tendon and may need TJ surgery on top of that. He's going to be out a very long time. That's why the Tigers let him go.

If the Jays were to sign Freeman and I'm not sure they will, I see 4 possibilities, from least likely to most likely (my opinion).

1. Freeman plays first and the Jays trade Vladdy for a big package.

2. Freeman plays third. He has played 16 games there in his career.

3. Freeman plays first and Vladdy moves to third.

4. Freeman and Vladdy alternate between first and DH. Of course, that means losing the ability to use DH as a half-day off for players.

When it comes right down to it, I trust that Atkins and Shapiro will only sign Freeman or any big free agent if they have a solid plan (that they are confident in) for where they are going to play him. I'm pretty sure that they don't just sign random guys and try to build a team out of them.

No point in listing a Vlad trade as a possibility. Teams don't trade 22 year old MVP candidates.

I don't get why we'd even be remotely interested in trying to get Freeman. He serves no purpose on this team, Vlad is basically Freeman but an entire decade younger and has the potential to be even better than Freddie.

I absolutely love the fact that Atkins did what he did regarding Ray. Ray tried to play the Jays and make them up their offer by saying he had a meeting with the Angels lined up and he wasn't planning on signing before the CBA expired. From all accounts, the Jays offered Ray the same contract he signed with the Mariners, instead he tried to be greedy and is now stuck on a bottom dwelling team.

He signed with the Mariners who were in the WC battle with Toronto last year.

Midnight tomorrow night is the deadline(well 11:59 PM), but with medicals needing to be done for every signing, unless guys have already flown to signing locations and have doctors on standby I would guess we've likely already seen the big rush of moves and it's started to slow down already.

If Vlad playing 3B was in the realm of possibility for 2022 then he should have been playing games there in 2021 after he was in better physical shape.

The fact he didn't play there at all tells me they have no intention to do that anytime soon.

Lol yeah the Mariners are not a bottom dwelling team anymore. I know they played way over thier heads last season but there's a lot of upside on that roster and now they landed a top tier pitcher
