Confirmed Trade: [NYR/VAN] JT Miller, Erik Brannstrom, Jackson Dorrington for Filip Chytil, Victor Mancini, 2025 1st round pick (top 13 protected)

at least the canucks traded the right guy.

Horvat -> Beauvillier, Raty, 17th pick
Miller -> Chytil, Mancini, 15th pick???

which deal is better?
Beauvillier f***ing sucks.

Not sure about Raty, but Mancini us an interesting prospect.

Pretty sure the Nucks used that 17th overall pick as the main piece to acquire Hronek that has really helped their team.

So, for now id pick the Horvat return.

They're trading Pettersson during the summer. That's what makes the most sense.

His NMC doesn't kick in until July 1st, and the market for him will be much stronger when teams have cap flexibility. Trading him mid-season, they were going to take a massive haircut.

The difference with JT Miller is that the offers weren't going to improve in the summer because there is no way to create a market for him with his NMC already active. So it made sense to resolve it by moving him now, and then return to the table with Pettersson trades at the draft and before July 1st.
Also gives him time to turn his season around, with Miller gone, to make teams more comfortable with his cap hit.

Top 13 protection is terrible.

It makes it sound like they previously offered playoff protection, then circled back and threw the Canucks a bone by offering to go down to top 13.

With that said, it could work out in the end if the changes Drury make combined with alienating his current roster don't result in any improvements. This could turn out like the Matt Duchene trade. So maybe there is some upside there, but it would take a lot of luck.

Wow thats reaching, what does it turn into if it is top 13?

If it is in the top 13, Vancouver have to take JT Miller back.

Reminder - Van cleared up cap and has the first as trade bait. I’m not sure they will be that much worse, and clearing the distraction is worth a fair amount.

Not sure this is the fleecing posters seem to think it is. Looks like about market value to me for a player with locker room issues.

This.......as a Nucks fan I'm pleasantly surprised here...........we cleared up almost 3.6 mill of cap, and the first and the prospect we got could theoretically be used for a decent asset........and losing Miller at this point is addition by subtraction...........time will tell but the people calling Van out for getting P Diddied in the back I think gonna be looking back on how wrong they got things............

I wish Miller luck he was a warrior for us but I'm excited to see how this turns out. From what I can recall Chytil has been a playoff player as well (correct me if I'm wrong here). If he can stay healthy this trade improves dramatically as well most likely........

I like the return for Vancouver since Filip Chytil has the potential and size to be a really good maybe even great 2nd line centre and the Canucks remove some of the stench that has hammered them this season...plus the first rounder in 2025 helps them get a decent player maybe a D-man maybe another forward...and Chytil is like 7 years younger than soon to be 32 year old Miller

Mancini was literally not even ranked in the Rangers top-14 prospects by Wheeler. Calling him a "RD with huge potential" is a massive stretch.
Came here to post that. That’s a stretch if I’ve ever seen one. Potential as a d specialist but there’s no offensive upside there.

Seems like an underwhelming return for Vancouver at first glance, but whatever they do with the extra cap space will factor into things as well. Rangers should be well on their way back into the playoff picture with this move and could do some real damage with that roster firing on all cylinders. One more good d-man and they're back to being a true contender.

why would they want to trade Pettersson?

The protection part is terrible but overall, I think just moving on from Miller and getting Chytil and 1st is good for Nucks given situation

Mancini is still young so who knows could be good for Nucks longterm

Just looking at the stats, Chytil doesn't even look like a top six player... Was Mika Z for JT really that bad of a deal if that was indeed on the table?

Zibanejad was ass points wise and he was legit looking he was just doing cardio when that trade was probably proposed. He looks better in recent weeks for NYR
