Confirmed Trade: [NYR/VAN] JT Miller, Erik Brannstrom, Jackson Dorrington for Filip Chytil, Victor Mancini, 2025 1st round pick (top 13 protected)

Miller is on the wrong side of 30 with a lot of term.
I can see this hurting the Canucks short term, but being good down the road. As a fan of both teams, people are underestimating Chytil.

He's done it once and on pace to be 40 points short this year.
The two previous years he hit 82 and 99pts.

He might not touch his last season point totals ever again, but there's at least a very decent chance he gets back to ppg+.

I'd say there's a better chance that he paces for 100pts the rest of the year than he continues to pace for 50.

Honestly, kind of bummed we lost Chytil for Miller. I love watching Chytil play. He’s a bull when healthy. Miller is too old.

Not sure why we are getting older as a team right now.

Well Petey better turn into prime Datsyuk now that his bully is gone, this trade really hurts that it had to end this way...

He had 99, 82, 103 the last three seasons. His elite performance wasn't a one off.

This season obviously the feud has reached a breaking point. EP is only on pace for 55 points himself.
And he reached 100 points once, so he's not a 100 point player is what I'm saying.

He's also closer to retirement and does player a more physical game than some, so there's a decent probability his body starts to break down and he starts topping out in the 70s for point totals than high 80s, low 90s.

I like how quickly it flipped from "Miller is a 100 point player that will get a massive return" to "his contract will be an anchor" literally as soon as Miller got traded.

It's a bad return for the Canucks. The situation basically guaranteed the return would be bad, but it's still a bad return.
You’re just saying that because the Penguins lost 4-1 to Kraken

This is realistically what it was going to be. Yes, he's coming off a 100 point season, but his current season has been a disaster, especially with how uninterested he looks defensively. He's always run hot and cold defensively - we'll see what version the Rangers get. Last year's version of JT Miller might turn them into a contender, this year's version of JT realistically should've gone for this package with a lower draft pick in place of their 1st.

I think the Nucks did ok on this. They're giving up the best player, so it's a loss, but all three of the pieces they're getting are helpful. Health is an issue, but Chytil was breaking out this year and I like Mancini quite a bit

I'll add this; for the Rangers, he's a project, but people don't sleep on Dorrington. He's a tank
They did ok if the plan was to tank and rebuild. If they're trying to contend it's an awful return. That said the return is as good you can expect considering the circumstances. Vancouver fans were expecting too much.
