I posted this on the main board as well but it is a really weird move
Schneider is only 2 years older, he’s a better player, same position, and he’s captain
So why make this move? Am I just overthinking it or is anyone else confused?

He must be a good 2-way guy/team player/‘hockey player’ to get that amount of NHL games despite so little production in the AHL.

Don’t mind it, I think we have a bit too many shooters in HFD.

They make identical $$. Both UFA at year end so it’s not contracts or $$ related.

Perhaps they want another veteran grinder? But one would assume guys like Fogarty and Beleskey would be those guys if needed.

I don’t know, teams make changes in hockey. There can be a number of reasons for it. Just in general it’s probably probable that a team like HFD will make a couple of changes per year.

Sometimes for hockey reasons, sometimes because of something that happened at the Christmas party, sometimes because someone wants to geographically speaking be close to some where, folks, ex GF with a kid or what not.

The guy we got is pretty small, has less than a PIM per game, and played like 40 games in the NHL last season despite scoring like 26 pts in the AHL the year before.

My bet that is that he is a good skater that covers a lot of ice and push the pace a lot. Drives possession.

HFD is certainly short of those guys. A lot of little bit more sturdy shot first types, or finesse guys, in HFD. Will Boo stick in NY? Think that they felt that they needed some pace down there. Just my guess.

This is a weird one. Weakens Hartford and I wouldn't exactly call Brickley a prime candidate for a call-up. Probably meaningless in terms of the plan going forward but still strange.

Not that it matters but I’m pretty sure the organization has traded Hartfords captain in season four straight years now

FWIW Brickley has quite a bit more NHL experience than Schneider so I'm not sure Schneider is the better player even if he's more of a point producer at the AHL level.
