I do think jailed Robert may be onto something here. JD got wind that Dolan was going to drop the axe on Gorton at the end of the season because of what you have been saying. JD, furious with this, calls up Dolan and says if he goes than I go. Dolan then proceeds to say ok, and drops the hammer.

This is the only plausible explanation if not at all related to anything over the course of the past 48 hours.
Yes. I'm not buying the "it's about the statement" story.

So my good friend apparently has a coworker that "knows a guy that knows a guy" that's friends with the dad of a prominent Rangers player (if a mod needs a name I'll message you who the player is). My friend is very reliable, I don't know about the others to be honest. But this is what he said he was told:

Apparently there is a lot of locker room stuff going on. Some stemming from the tony d situation. Room not in good shape, JD and Gorton had no idea about the statement.

Apparently it is said dolan wanted to fire gorton and JD stepped in.
That's crazy if true, but it kind of adds up.

I’ve heard this plenty. That room is a mess and Quinn has zero control over it. There’s no leadership from the gm to the coach down to the players. I fully expect trouba to be named captain as he’s tried to fill the void. But this is a mess and it’s come to a head

Don't want to go too off-topic here, but what comments? Are you talking about the comment he made to one of his teammates on his entirely White junior team when he was a child? Or something recent?

I never claimed to be his friend  what social media interactions are you referring to? If you look through his Instagram comments you'll see he's still friends with pretty much every Black player he's ever played with (Anthony Duclair, Josh Ho-Sang, Justin Bailey, Seth & Caleb Jones) they comment joking around on each others posts. By all accounts until this Georgiev incident he was reportedly very well liked by teammates? Biz & Whit asked around as well and said that everyone they've talked to who's played with him said they loved the guy

I'm talking about his comments about Asians, which is something that has come up as well. Don't for a moment think it's not just comments about homosexuals and black people.

There's a reason no one wanted to touch him this year or even have him around their franchises.

Trust me. This is not the guy to go to bat for, even if you happen to like his politics.

In the room it is absolutely different. Rangers strength has been their solid locker room for years now, dating back to Jagr and Shanny and Drury and Naslund. Now they don't even have a leadership group which is why DeAngelo imploded and Wilson was able to run train

No one knows what the room is like (or was for that matter), so we really shouldnt speculate.

However it was widely reported that multiple leaders and players in the room told ADA to cut the shit and he didnt. Thats on ADA not an indication of the leadership - but thats me.

And this is a super young team, that team was very old with established veterans, so you would expect a more even keeled environment

If this is true, I wonder if it would indicate that there will be a shakeup coming.

I mean think about it for a second, what does "Gorton and JD not being willing to support Dolan's statement" even mean?

Were they going to put out another press release today saying "just kidding, that was our wacky drunk owner!" Did they get on the phone with their owner and say "hey boss you're dumbass!" or did Dolan make them kneel before him to swear an oath of fidelity?

Absolutely reeks of BS to me

You don't need an off hand rumor from a friend of a friend to know this core has no leadership and the locker room is an absolute disaster.

The Rangers since the lockout up until very recently have always been a model franchise and at the heart of that was a very solid locker room, from Jagr and Straka and Shanny to Gomez and Drury to Naslund to Cally and Dubi and Stepan and Richards and Girardi and Staal and Brassard and Zuccarello and above all HENRIK LUNDQVIST.

They were able to keep SEAN AVERY in line, Tony DeAngelo and his trolling on Twitter was small fries compared to Avery.

yeah don't bother listening to the Mess interview. lol
many won't like what he has to say

I couldn't care less about Messier's f***ing grift he is trying to push on us with his memorabilia product. I just want him to confirm he is not allowed to work in the state of NY anymore for some reason so I can relax.

I have a feeling this is about Dolan wanting Eichel and Gorton saying "no". That's why the coach is still here - they have a relationship.
I have a feeling this is about the Knicks being successful,Dolan not knowing how to handle that and saying"well shit, lets go meddle with the Rangers now!"

This sucks... Not so much with Gorts, but J.D. being fired makes you feel like it wasn't entirely based on merit and that's a problem. I'm happy with Drury running things, and I don't think Dolan is the type to be extremely involved with the team because he's never been overly involved with the Rangers. The timing also indicates big time that the Wilson stuff was a big factor on this.

Hopefully Drury has more guts to make moves because outside of the Wilson issue, this team needs some physicality.
