I don’t even think Dolan knows who jack eichel is. I genuinely don’t think this was anything to do with Dolan and his desire to make the playoffs 1-2 years sooner. I call bullshit on that

My guess is the NHL head honchos were furious with the rangers statement and somehow forced this firing of our GM and President.

It sounds like they weren't backing ownership with the statement. Thats a problem. I think firing them for that is still excessive.

I don't get it. Did we have *hopes* of the playoffs? sure, but i don't think anyone really thought it was going to be a lock.

I mean, half of our roster still can't buy beer yet. What did they really expect this roster to achieve?

I bet they are forced to swallow a non disclosure agreement.

After the Isiah Thomas situation, absolutely!

They are paid millions to go away, but they can still go "off the record"

Take this for what its worth - my family knows someone who works high up with NBC Sports. Im not seeing that as a true source, but...

“Dolan was behind that team statement last night... and JD/Gorton had no idea about it. And once they issued displeasure, they were fired.”"

I am going to reiterate that they should have brought him back and ditched the overrated Georgiev last offseason. DeAngelo might still be here, haha.
That was always my opinion anyway, I know the cap was tough but I think Hank should've been back and you make it fit for the final weird season.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if that was a major problem for Dolan that he was convinced into doing but never sat right with him.

And then maybe this whole Wilson thing with apparently JD and Gorton being displeased with the statement maybe that was like the reactivation of the timebomb that having to buy out Hank implanted in him.

For the record, I'm fine with bringing Messier into the organization, but only if it's done the right way. Let him take Drury's old post as the Hartford GM and take it from there. Bringing him right into the team presidency would be horrific without giving him some hands on experience first. He has Dolan yes man written all over him.

If I'm JD or Gorton, even if I don't like the statement if it really came from Dolan, who is their boss, I support him anyway because part of any job is supporting your boss and making him or her look good and I just want to get past this incident and the season is winding down anyway and I want to move on to the draft and offseason. It just doesn't seem like something to disagree with to the point of getting fired. Sounds fishy.

Seems contradictory to the link I just posted...

Edit; nvm I read the previous link wrong. I assumed they were saying that was why the firing happened

then DeAngelo and trading away of Lemieux and not acquiring any enforcer had something to do with it.
