I just think they were at a crossroads (JD and JG) and they decided that we will address it in our way, but that wasn't good enough for Dolan.I am really hoping that this is what happened.
Literally any other rationale or explanation for this is very alarming as a lifetime supporter of this team.
I will say, the Wilson fiasco is mind-blowing to rewatch and I can't help but think that the team (including JD and JG) knows it was missing the element of toughness it needs going forward. For now, Dolan makes the statement but believe me, he's pissed that the two guys who were running the show, preaching patience and building without toughness, didn't want to stand in unity when that same lack of toughness bit the players on the ice in the ass. Yeah, Strome and Bread stepped up, but that's sticking together. There's nothing behind them.
