The more I think about it, could this be a disagreement on whether to fire Quinn? Gorton and JD may have preached patience and wanted to keep Quinn while Dolan may have wanted a new coach.
Not gonna let it ruin my weekendDrury is a proven champion. He's won a little league world series...
...too soon?
Fox is probably the only untouchable right now
I was wondering this too, that could've played into it. He may have wanted a torts vs devils style broohaha and Gorton refused to call anyone up. Could've played a factor.Did Dolan want a goon in the line up for the game to answer the bell and they said no?
Days since rangers incident...Man we are one dysfunctional organization. Jesus Christ
I mean JD and Sam are obviously close. Sam’s getting up there in age anyway. If the reason is Bettman made a call to Dolan kind of thing, that Gorton and JD really were behind the statement, then it gives Sam every reason to call it quits.Excuse me that's Micheletti
Holy shit...sounds like Dolan got an angry phone call from Bettman
Actually I wonder if the league/Dolan asked JD and Gorton to take back the statement and they refused so they got fired
I added the below after you replied to the first post:I would question Dolan’s approach in this situation, the fact that Drury is as closely linked to JD and Gorton as you can be, and because we now have removed an essential buffer that has existed since Sather took over the team.
Say what you will about Sather, but he was the wall that often kept the tsunami that is Dolan from doing the same type of damage he did elsewhere.
Ugh me tooAnd Lafreniere and Kakko. I'll concede K'Andre if you tell me we won't trade Laf or Kakko.

at least it *could* turn out to be the only positive act in itno god pls shits already circus
This sounds like something Steinbrenner would have done in the 80s.There's only one logical explanation and it fits the narrative: Dolan wanted this message out and the top two lieutenants didn't want to back it. Gonzo. And there, in one fell swoop, goes the credibility that was being built up with the fanbase since "the letter" regarding the rebuild.
Who's going to want to work for this organization after this? No one worthwhile, that's for sure.
that’s my big worry. I mean maybe friedman was right and they didn’t stand up for dolan, your team, and two of your best players. I hope he’s right. I hope the truth comes out. and I hope dolan stays the f*** away from the team’s decision making.
I’m confused so Dolan hires Leon Rose to be the Knicks head guy and for him to stop meddling, they start having success.
And he takes that information and says “well might as well start interfering with the Rangers”
I know this might just be chalked up to a rich owner being an owner but wtf
"we need to be a tougher team to play against, be patient."
-JD and Gorts
Team is blown out in three NYI games and can't keep games close with anybody except NJ, BUF, and PHI as of late. Team isn't tough to play against, it's almost too easy.
Someone reported that Dolan may have wanted Drury to take over now so that he could run exit interviewsNot with this timing.
