Is this a mystery game where we're supposed to guess which 3 you mean? Lol
If the Sabres can't resign Zucker, I'd assume he's worth no more than a 2nd, no less than a 3rd.

Whoops I edited another name in !

Zucker got a late pick last year but he’s doing better this season

Wondering if Nyqvist comes cheap

Given his numbers... Zucker if not re-signed will cost a 2nd+ and the 2nd could become a 1st.
I would be shocked if any of those players returned a 1st round pick. None of them have demonstrated the consistency across multiple seasons to justify a 1st.

One rebound regular season will not have teams salivating to spend such capital. They will be rightfully suspicious of players like Zucker and whether they can replicate their recent success on a new team. Especially when he’s had so-so results as a deadline acquisition before.

LOL a 3rd. Sure. If Pegula retains half salary, could even get a late first.
Zucker was traded for a 6th last year… and he only has 16 more points in the same amount of games (but with two minutes more of ice time per game, mostly on the powerplay).

Buffalo fans are delusional if they think an inconsistent 33 year old Jason Zucker can return a 1st round pick.

Supply/demand.

With not many teams out of the playoffs limits the market thus raises the price.

As I said I think it's a 2nd+ if they dont resign him. The 2nd becomes s first if the team makes final 4

These guys are all in the 3rd round pick rental bin on the way to the checkout counter. You just kinda grab the one that feels right before you finish the deadline out.

Pretty much this. +/- and with some wiggle room depending on retention and/or cap offsets or contract dumps going back. Or if any of these teams decides there's a guy they see as a ~3rd equivalent B/C prospect or reclamation project they'd prefer because they're further along.

They're all the sort of guy you grab because they're cheap, but most real contenders are going to have those offensive roles sorted out already with better options. So these guys are probably more for the "bubble teams" looking for a cheap add to look like they're "doing something", or teams just looking for a little bit of insurance or depth but not fully committed "all in".
