Of the big 4 he’s provided the best value for money and unlike some, he at least maintains his level of play in the postseason. What you see is what you get.

Please with Tavares lol. His signing is the reason we are in this mess. 11 mil was a big overpayment for him regardless if it was true or not that the crummy Sharks offered him 13 mil. The Leafs should have offered 9.5 max and let Tavares choose between playing at home in Toronto or for the bottom feeder Sharks.

When he signed for 11 mil x 8 he was the 2nd largest cap hit in the NHL behind McDavid, which is comical for a dude who won nothing and his career max in points was 86. Like I said, the following year, Kucherov commits to the Bolts for 9.5 x 8 after winning the Hart and scoring 126 points -- that is what you call giving your team a discount. 11 for Tavares was a joke the second it happened. The chain reaction was the younger core licking their chops for big pay days after the Leafs paid 11 mil for an outsider.

Look at Gaudreau ,Kadri, Huberdeau and Pasta for the real bargains. Young players will normally outperform their contracts towards the end. He isnt close to the class leaders in that respect and he got more money than them against the early years. None of the others have a $6.9 for 27 points on their resume. He is a bit of a bloodsucker.

I think he gets more than that, especially if he agrees to an extension. PLD's trade should be the standard.

That has to apply to the entire core, except Tavares who we just want to get rid of. If you want more than your comps, goodbye. Willies comps are in the $9 range, so we should expect to pay that.

It absolutely should apply to Matthews and Marner too. Willys defence puts him in the 8.5m range imo.

It's July 3rd I wouldn't expect it to be going particularly well at this point it is VERY early in the process it's normal to start high that's how negotiation works.
