His true value is in the 9s, so it's not.Probably closer to his true value then 10-11.

Yeah I don't agree. At all.His true value is in the 9s, so it's not.
Your like the person who says they know what raising a child is like cause you have a cat or a dog and its pretty much the same thing. Clearly you never watched those teams and the players/coaches/gms you are referencing or you would understand the difference compared to this latest version of the leafs.I'm going to go ahead and say that for those old enough to remember it the 60's were more enjoyable than the 90's
You're missing the point. The Dubas era was failed too. Burns/Fletcher, Quinn, Dubas, all failures. Leaf fans have decided to glorify their favourite losers because most of us don't have any winners to remember.
Also demoted or waivedIt means Tavares has to agree to be trade anywhere...
and all of these stipulations again remain after any trade may occur...Also demoted or waived
its really not.His true value is in the 9s, so it's not.
"Build around Tavares" I hope you are joking, sometimes you wonder if the people around here even cheer for the team.. Marner and or Matthews you can build around (probably can't keep both) and you need a guy like Nylander to be the 2nd go to guy which he already is. I would be happy with Matthews and Nylander as the core out of the forwards as Marner will be too expensive.Trade him and Marner, build around Matthews and Tavares.
You can't trade J.T, thats the reality. So trade the two players you can to free up desperately needed cap space and get some Gamers/picks in return who you can flip for mid tier contracts."Build around Tavares" I hope you are joking, sometimes you wonder if the people around here even cheer for the team.. Look, this teams salary structure is flawed. It always was going to be barring playoff success. It didnt pan out, so the experiment has to end, time to get some reasonably priced Gamers
What did Einstein say the definition of insanity was?
Yet, they refuse to. They need a comfortable group to keep the corporate sponsors happy. There are some really really great players in the NHL Nylander is just one of them.
There’s nothing saying the Maple Leafs can’t fix their roster by moving on from the core
Well aware we cant get rid of Tavares. Yet. Think this teams problem is chemistry and team spirit. There is no "building" going on. The amount of players coming and going here is absurd. They need to have consistency and build as a group. So that they fight for each others. You can't trade J.T, thats the reality. Umm, it's been the same core for seven years. The players are coming via trade, they just aren't staying.Well aware we cant get rid of Tavares. Yet. Yes, Leafs will be top five Cup faves. Bookies LOVE the Leaf fans.Any actual updates today?
Treliving is probably offering 8.
That would be a significant low ball.
I don't understand it. A proven 20 goal/60 point Nylander signs for 7.5x6 (6.9x5.6). That's considered a "steal". That's as an rfa with literally ZERO leverage.
But coming off of a 40 goal 90 point (or damn near) season and holding ALL of the leverage as a ufa, he's now only worth 8 mil?
I'm very VERY confused.
I’m really starting to see why we are The laughing stock of the main board. It's honestly amazing how content some of you guys are to cheer on a team of regular season heroes.
Let's change nothing, just run it back and hope for the best lol unreal
Why every player accept OReilly that we lost was overpaid by millionsI’m really starting to see why we are The laughing stock of the main board.
He wasn’t worth 7.5M at the time when Ehlers got 6 and Pastrnak got 6.6
It aged well for the last couple of years.
You're not wrong, but that's the entire point -- these players have been "leveraging" the Leafs from the moment Tavares told them, "The Sharks are willing to pay me 13 million." When Tavares did that, the Leafs response should have been, "That's great, but we have three other future stars that need to be signed so we can pay you 9.5 million. Would you be happy with that? If not, no hard feelings, enjoy San Jose."The whole Nylander shouldn't be paid 4 million less then Matthews thing kind of goes into the fire if there is no other team in the league that is also willing to pay him 10-11 million on a long term deal. Like Willy's camp absolutely has some leverage in this situation
Problem is most of the hood replacement guys are signed and goneIf Willie is demanding double figures then it's time to trade him. Pick up a bunch of young assets and use the money to sign a replacement + fill other needs.
Yup, completely agree and unless they collectively have some kind of realization that they will never win a damn thing unless that mentality changes....we will stick in the same cycle. Realistically they don't give a damn and are fine with being regular season heros and cashing the pay cheque. You're not wrong, but that's the entire point -- these players have been "leveraging" the Leafs from the moment Tavares told them, "The Sharks are willing to pay me 13 million." Let's be honest, any good player can leverage any team whenever they get the chance. After MacKinnon won the Cup for the Avs he could have leveraged them into paying him $15 million a year. What are they going to do, trade their best forward who helped lead them to a Cup? No, they would be forced to pay him. But he didn't leverage them, he signed 8 years for only 700k more than Matthews currently makes on a deal that was signed 4 years ago lmao.
Players who love the team they play for do not leverage them, they leave money on the table to help put the team, and their teammates, in a better situation to win championships.
That's the problem the Leafs currently face with these players -- they are all about leveraging them. None of them have committed easily and for long-term while leaving some decent coin on the table. These players leverage the Leafs like they are free agents leveraging a desperate team starved for talent, it's disgusting.
