Confirmed Trade: [NYI/STL] Scott Perunovich for 2026 cond. 5th round pick

Wasn’t working out in STL and became obvious he had no future here. Maybe a change of scenery will do him some good, he really needs to find a way to play with some confidence.

Odd choice after signing DeAngelo.

Perunovich has NHL skill, just struggles defensively. Too small, and not quick enough to make up for the size unfortunately.

Glad he gets more opportunity than he did here now hopefully.

Injuries took their toll on him. Not sure he has the skating ability required to make his game work at this level, not that it's bad, you just have to be an elite skater to make up for his size and defensive limitations. His shot isn't strong enough and has never been a significant part of his game in college or AHL level either. With PP time and sheltering, maybe he can make something of himself, but probably ends up as one of those guys that can't cut it past AHL/Europe.

He was actually playing the best he ever had as a pro around the time Monty got hired but he quickly become odd-man out in favor of Tyler Tucker. His outlet passing and vision are his best traits but he just doesn't skate well enough for his size. He'll probably carve out a nice career in Europe.

Wonder what the conditions are, didn’t see anything in the tweet/press release.

Scotty P is a talented player, just couldn’t overcome his size limitations particularly on defense during his time in St. Louis. Still not out of the question he can figure the league out enough to be an effective PPQB in sheltered minutes IMO…but he needs reps to do that and he wasn’t going to get more of a chance in St. Louis. Wish him all the best, seems like a good kid.

Great! He’ll fit right in

Seems like a solid value buy for a team in need - I bet the price for a similar-profile defenseman is higher closer to the deadline.
Perunovich is an RFA too.

perunovich has the ability to be injured by a gust of wind, and for an "offensive" d-man he only scored his first NHL goal in his 79th NHL game and has 2 career goals...good riddance "scorinscott"

The only think I can say about this trade is:
Just because you are on an NHL roster, does not mean you have "NHL" talent. :sarcasm:

Hope you understand my thoughts of my Isles making this deal.
