For curiosity's sake, I wanted to gauge the interest in a potential off-season move between NYI and OTT. NYI need some kind of drastic change, especially if they continue to bottom out this season.

I submit the following proposal only if OTT fails to make the playoffs this year and Brady follows his brother's footsteps and wants out of Canada. I am rooting for the Sens though to make it this year, have always liked Ottawa as an NYI fan.

To Ottawa:

Mat Barzal
Noah Dobson

To NYI:

Brady Tkachuk
Thomas Chabot

The logic here is NYI get a premier winger to go alongside Horvat more in tune with the physical NYI identity than Barzal, and Chabot a solid LD to replace Dobson.

OTT would gain a 70 point RD to pair alongside Sanderson for the future and Barzal can slot in at C or RW alongside Stutzle for the future.

Thoughts from a value perspective if both team's go for change in the off-season? No disrespect meant if Brady is not moving.

Dobson is certainly nice piece but Ottawa drafted Yakemchuk to be that guy in the future.

Interesting trade idea though!

Isles don't do this. If and a very small chance they decide to move both Brazal and Dobson. They will DEFINITELY trade them separately to get more valve (youngsters and picks.)

Interesting. As a Sens fan I have zero interest but it’s an interesting proposal. When I saw NYI-OTT proposal I figured something around Pinto and Dobson.

If we could get a 70 point RHD for Pinto it would have already been done.

What would you add to Pinto for Dobson?
NYI doesn’t take a standard blue chip prospect, roster player, first round pick for a player of Dobson’s calibre and team contract control.

For NYI, the conversation starts and ends with Tim Stützle. That is just the reality.

If Dobson was a pending UFA with 1.5 years left, maybe a first round pick, Pinto, and a blue chip prospect (Yak?) might work, but no reason for NYI to ask for anyone except Stützle.

1RHD >= 1C

Similar age, similar control, and similar impact.

I would not trade Stutzle for Dobson.

I can understand NYI wanting him, but I think Stutzle has more value than Dobson.

He's 13th in PPG in the league at the moment, he still has 6 more years under a very cost effective contract at $8.35M, and he's 22 years old.

Dobson is up for a contract at the end of this year, and is 2 years older.

Would love to swap Chabot for Romanov in some sort of deal, but it ain't happening. Dobson seems very unlikley to be traded.

NYI view Barzal and Dobson the same way that Ottawa views Stützle and Sanderson.

Surprised no Islanders fans have came in here offering Pulock and Horvat as a counter for Tim and Sandy.
Pulock and Horvat both have full NTCs, although Isles fans here occasionally ignore Pulock’s. But Barzal has a modified NTC and I’ll guess that he would block this move.

Anyway the reason from the Isles side is that they could afford to trade Barzal for a natural wing and Dobson hasn’t had a great start this season and is due for an extension next year.
