So I am bored. Can't wait for the draft. So curious as to where you think these guys should have gone?

Rank each player as to (on a scale of 1 - 10)

1 - meeting draft expectations (obviously taking into account length of career to date).

2 - where in hindsight you think he should have been drafted. feel free to be cruel.

3 - comments - some of these guys had decent careers but didn't perform in the playoffs, or were good for short periods.

ALSO if someone wants to reformat this please do so:

Joe Thornton
Vincent Lecavalier
Patrik Stefan
Rick DiPietro
Ilya Kovalchuk
Rick Nash
Marc-Andre Fleury
Alexander Ovechkin
Sidney Crosby
Erik Johnson
Patrick Kane
Steven Stamkos
John Tavares
Taylor Hall
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins
Nail Yakupov
Nathan MacKinnon
Aaron Ekblad
Connor McDavid

ALSO if someone wants to reformat this please do so:

Joe Thornton 9 - 1 - will this be his year?
Vincent Lecavalier 8 - 1 - faded in his later years.
Patrik Stefan 1 - whatever - worst number one in 30 -40 years
Rick DiPietro 6 - top 5 i guess
Ilya Kovalchuk 7 - top 3
Rick Nash 8 - 1 not much competition ....
Marc-Andre Fleury 6 - top 10? lots of good later picks
Alexander Ovechkin 10 - 1
Sidney Crosby 10 -1 perhaps more cups with this talent?
Erik Johnson 7 - top 5? not a strong year
Patrick Kane 9 -1 close to a 10
Steven Stamkos 9 - 1 Doughty might be better but very close to a 10 as well
John Tavares 9 - 1 close to a 10 as well.
Taylor Hall 8 - top 4 are all close (Gudrandson Seguin Johanssen)
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins 7 - top 6? in a tough situation in Edm
Nail Yakupov 5 - top 7? Not living up to hype at all. Could easily be a bust. New location help?
Nathan MacKinnon 7 - not clearly above most of the top 10 in his draft year. Way to early to really tell.
aaron Ekblad 8/9 - 1 Looking like the real deal but too early
Connor McDavid 10 -1 hard to argue. Looking on track

well no one else seemed interested. My take ...

Patrik Stefan was an NHL-ready prospect who happened to suffer three concussions in his draft season. He was never the same after that. If not for those concussions, he would have very likely had a stable NHL career.

He was never really a 'terrible' player. He was pretty serviceable, but he could have been so so much more.

Vancouver
Joe Thornton 1st - 10
Vincent Lecavalier 1st - 10
Patrik Stefan Weak draft probably still top 10 - 2
Rick DiPietro undrafted - 1
Ilya Kovalchuk 1st - 9
Rick Nash 3rd - 8th
Marc-Andre Fleury Hard to rank goalies, but second rounder cause goalie - 7
Alexander Ovechkin 1st - 9
Sidney Crosby 1st - 10
Erik Johnson 10th - 7
Patrick Kane 1st - 10
Steven Stamkos 1st - 9
John Tavares 1st - 8
Taylor Hall 2nd - 9
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins Top 3 was rushed to NHL - 7
Nail Yakupov top 15 - 6
Nathan MacKinnon 2nd - 8
Aaron Ekblad 1st - 8
Connor McDavid 1st - 8

Where they went, I tried to put it with strength of draft but couldn't remember all the drafts so probably off by a bit. Some players was hard to give them too high of a score just because of where they are in the career, lots of time to raise that.
