Haula got something back? TBF, the Devils are not in cap trouble or anything, but still, maybe Nashville thinks they can elevate his value for a deadline deal or something. They also do have room for a veteran depth center because they don't have a lot of NHL-ready center prospects yet.

I know it’s Trotz, but I think this trade suggests that the days of teams paying to get out of deals (unless they’re really bad deals) are in the past.

Teams aren’t going to pay to dump 1 year, $3 million AAV deals going forward. Ironically like Nashville did last year when they paid to move Glass.
