Confirmed Signing with Link: [NSH] F Thomas Novak signs extension with the Predators (1 year, $800k)

One of our better forwards this year. Dude can be a 40-60 pt center if Hynes wasn't a shitty coach

Who are their top 6 centers moving forward?

Parssinen Novak Glass Granlund Duchene Johansen Tomasino

Personally I'd like to see Forsberg Parssinen Jeannot get some reps together on the top line.

Duchene doesn't play center for us, Granlund was fairly decent at it last year since we had nobody else but is possibly more ideally suited to RW also. And Tomasino is being brought along pretty much exclusively as a RW. So that leaves Parssinen, Glass, Novak, and Johansen as the real centers on the list.

But I don't think any of us could say with any certainty how that will all play out moving forward. Heck, the way Hynes juggles everything, who knows who the centers will be next game, let alone next season.

I'm most confident in Parssinen sticking. Glass and Novak have looked good recently, but I want to see more before I am sold. They are at least NHL players and candidates meanwhile, so this contract for Novak is a fair representation of where his career is at. He's too good for the AHL. He has shown some good things in the NHL. But next year will be his chance to try to truly carve out a long-term niche in the NHL.

What ? I thought Novak plays on the Devils ?!?

( I’m kidding . Leah Hextall called the play by play for a Devils game where she called Tatar Novak abijt 417 times and over the entire game without knowing she was calling him the wrong name - Novak )

drafted like 3rd rd in 2016 or 2017

always was written off as a B levem prospect but lit up the ahl last yr and this yr until he was called off

hes been a great offensive catalyst for the preds.

Seems to create more spade and exhibit more hockey iq than most of our other forwards

Who is this guy? 17 pts in 24 games for the Preds so far. Was he drafted or UFA?

Tommy Novak was a late 3rd round pick in 2015, out of the USHL with Waterloo, played 4 seasons at Univ. of Minnesota.

Development took longer than most players as Novak spent 4 seasons in college and another 3-4 seasons in the AHL including this season, even played a few games in the ECHL a few seasons ago.

Novak is a very smart playmaking center, but needs to get stronger to deal with the tighter checking in the NHL, Tommy also needs to really work on his faceoffs as his FO percentage is well below average.
