I don't think college hockey generates the revenue that would result in a lot of NIL money. Nor are many hockey players the type to generate a lot of followers on social media to warrant it either, like some athletes in non football/basketball have been able to do.

a ELC + performance bonus and on top of getting more $$$ in the long term is way more than what NIL will pay for college hockey. NIL will never cover potential difference in player salary over the years between signing the ELC right away or spending a couple years more in college. The longer the player waits the less years he'll have of making several million a year.
