Something feels off to me. I went back as far as 13-14 and not a single team was below 19. Suddenly all 10 are below 19? Feels like in the past they're calculating using decimal age, 19.9 for instance, and this year they're just using the whole number age, which is obviously going to skew the number down.

Based on EP, the last team in this tournament who had an average age under 19 was Belarus in 2000-2001. Wow, this tournament will be very young this year.
There is also a slight chance Slovakia could have a team that is under the average age of 18. If Bakala, Fatul, and Lasak are cut. I’m sure that would bring the age under 18. Austria also has a chance too, but I think they keep their older guys this year.

Most of the top 2002 born players are born late in the year. Wallstedt, Power, Beniers, Eklund and more. That wouldn’t dramatically affect the numbers though.

Yeah, if they are using full numbers (i.e. no decimals) it is not possible to produce a team with an average above 19, as a single 18 year old will skew it downwards. If they using decimals, almost every team would be above 19. Canada might be one of the younger teams given Bedard, Wright, and host of 18 year olds will bring the average down.

Running the Canada ages for last year it seems they're using their current whole number ages, which seems ridiculous. The year before that the numbers are exactly 1 year too high as well. I have no idea why.

The 2019/20 team was younger than this Canadian team by 0.03 years.
