I don't know why I thought about this today... but I did, and it was glorious. The fan in the red shirt captured my emotions perfectly after seeing that live. LOL

Sucked in the regular season, but money in the playoffs. Thank God the GM of the year last season traded him away for... nothing.

I have a lot of "favorite moments" in these past few seasons and this is definitely one of them. Just how perfect the shot was, the loud TINK as it hits iron, Jim Fox's "WOAH!", the look of disbelief on Hitchcock... everything about it is just perfect. Penner is so damn likable too. Too bad it didn't work out.

I am not a Dustin Penner defender in the most remote sense of the term and even I think the Ducks trading Penner at the deadline was dumb.

I know its not gonna happen for so many reasons, but I'd still welcome him back... a 3rd line of Penner, Richards, Williams would be freakin eliteness.

He was better in the playoffs, but 18 points in 44 playoff games with the Kings is not very good at all...especially since he got some 2nd line and PP duty. Even when he scored 11 pts in the 2012 CUP run, 3 goals in 20 games is not that good. Lewis scored more than that.

2011: 6 1 1 2
2012: 20 3 8 11
2013: 18 3 2 5

That was one of my favroite Fox moments until this.

This was always the emotion I expected from Bob and Jim, especially Jim. In 2012 the game was over in the first period.

This....still puts tears in my eyes every time I play it.

Sounds like Bob is both excited and trying not to laugh as Jim has an orgasm in the background

I watch that Penner goal every other month or so. The best thing about that moment is just how crushing it was for the Blues. It broke their backs.

While I don't think we'll see Penner in a Kings uniform as a player again, I think it's pretty clear at this point that he will be brought back into the organization when he retires. He has done signings for us while part of another organization for crying out loud!

I would love to see him have a position similar to O'Donnell's when he retires. :yo:

That's the reason why I even said on the Ducks segment of The Forum "Consider the Ducks' Stanley Cup chances...roasted" after Penner got traded to DC.

I would welcome Penner as a Bottom 6 winger, he could play in the Top 6 during the playoffs ;)

Seriously, though... I don't really think we have room for him, but I wish we did because he is a super likeable guy and a dynamite playoff performer.
I was happy to have him on our dominant Stanley Cup run.

The only place I see Penner fitting in the lineup is in place of Dwight King, and I'm not sure that is going to happen since it seems like Sutter likes King's game.

I like Penner too, but the sad reality is there is no place for him in the lineup.

We should sign him to a 1 year 1M type of deal like Downie got. He would really help out our bottom 6.

Penner-Stoll-Williams
Clifford/King-Richards-Lewis

Was gonna say this wouldn't shock me, especially if King is asking for more than that.

Regardless, that goal gets me. I know our vision gets clouded because the guy was a slug 90% of the time, but the other 10% of the time is glorious, and I don't mean just scoring--ripping off heads, tugging on jerseys, etc.

Let me preface what I am about to say with this: I love Penner.

But you guys sure have short memories. He didn't show up for any of the three regular seasons he was here. He was huge in the 2012 playoffs and played very well in 2013, but he's not worth the paycheck if he isn't going to carry his weight in the regular season, and he just never did.

As long as Lombardi is here, he isn't coming back. Look forward, not behind.

Just noticed there is something wrong with the sync of the clip to the voice-over...watch the celebration by the Kings, when Martinez goes nuts, then it cuts away and all of a sudden, there are like 12 Kings on him LOL.

Hope the master is better-synced when it comes out later this summer.

Knowing Penner, I'd bet he'd gladly be a king even if he was a HS for an entire season. I think the guy just enjoys the interaction more than the game itself. It's just too much work and effort.

Well said Ron, exactly my thoughts on Penner. All tools, no toolbox. I'm really surprised Edmonton hasn't brought him back to be honest.
