This one's a bit tricky but I think I'll go with Karlsson. The offensive gap is way larger than the numbers suggest once you compare the teams and scoring environment. And while Karlsson was definitely no defensive stalwart in 2012, I wouldn't say he was so bad that it bridges the offensive gap either.

If the question was who is better defensively or a better two way threat, I'd go Hedman. But factoring in everything, Karlsson was just more impactful.

Agreed. I like the word you used: impactful. EK was one of the most impactful players I can remember seeing during his peak in Ottawa.
