I have always maintained early 2000s Lidstrom was the best Lidstrom. 2002-2003 was also the year Yzerman missed almost the whole year but thanks to Lidstrom and Fedorov's resurgence (always ready to carry the team when Yzerman went out), as well as Datsyuk playing a bigger role and Zetterberg being a standout rookie (f*** Barret Jackman, product of MacInnis lol), no issues.

People forget how amazing Lidstrom was in slyly obstructing in the old NHL rules, made it look classy. Of course huge credit to Lidstrom for easily adjusting to new NHL rules superbly as well.
