It's also the scheme. SF is a run after catch team where they turn sub 10 yard passes into 15-25 yard gains. Not really a vertical pass game team, thus no reason for CB to give cushions.

SF going to have some questions with their skilled positions next season. Aiyuk coming off an ACL, and most of the time guys in that situation aren't back to normal the next season, though given when he got hurt, should be ready in pre-season. CMC his sore achillies and PCL is a concern. Deebo, lower production this season plus a big cap charge and have a lot of dead money with him. Pushed 2023 and 2024 payments into bonuses, thus $31 mill dead cap charge if they cut him. Carries a $29 mill cap charge with $16 mill in base salary due to 2025. Salary wise, can afford it, but it's the cap charges from prior years that up the cap charges.

If I knew the 49ers would play like that, I would have put them on the second screen and watched the Sharks on the main screen. Now I don't need to worry about the rest of the season. What a pathetic effort from them tonight, and Deebo should be gone after this year. You don't make comments like that earlier in the week and then keep dropping balls. He is a big issue.

Deebo's been overrated for a long time, but Shanahan's need to show everyone how smart he is by running gadget plays with him that never worked and playing him at running back certainly didn't help him stay healthy over the years. The contracts for Deebo and Aiyuk are absolutely unforgivable.

2025 salary & option for about $17 mill for Deebo is not guaranteed. But, all of the restructuring SF did will cost them when they cut him. He's a $31 mill Dead cap if they move off him. $9.6 mill left in SB and $16 mill from his 2024 salary restructure along with $5.4 in option bonus left to hit.
That's all been paid, so even if SF traded Deebo, they are eating that $31 mill.

So, when SF did those restructures in 23 and 24, fans got excited, but all SF did was push the cap charges into future years.
