I tend to agree but I have my doubts that the Giants have it in them to pull the trigger on something like that. Given how the past couple seasons have went, they're probably more likely to let it ride out than be proactive about their future.
I dunno. Zaidi has an analytics background and has already started infusing youth with the older core. I think he knows better than to fall for the hot streak, but who knows.

Yeah but the business side of things more often than not overrides the analytical and practical side of organization building and rebuilding.

I wonder if the Giants will go for it mainly because it's Bochy's last year. How can you tell a fanbase who is enjoying this run that they are going to trade the guy who is basically a Giants legend at this point. A month ago it would have been easier, but now I think that's a hard sell. I still say maybe trade Smith because they do have relievers who can get the job done (Dyson or Watson) but I am starting to think they won't trade Bum.

You can tell them pretty easily. It's for the best interest of the club's future. Making a run to be knocked out in the NLDS round at best and then watch that legend walk after the season isn't what they should be about and is still a very rosy outlook of how this team will perform in the next two months.

I liked it better with the thought of all you had to do was get into the tournament and anything can happen. Wasn't that the case in all 3 of the Giants World Series runs. You don't know if the Giants would lose the NLDS anymore than I do.

It's a nice thought but it's a rosy outlook. The Giants in their three runs had better starting pitching and were never below .500 even after a 7 game winning streak was snapped in July like this team last week. The worst this team was in any of those years, they got themselves above .500 by May. If we're going to go with this rosy outlook then why not trade for people to fill the holes? Just because they have a shot at the playoffs because of a very mediocre league doesn't mean they shouldn't continue building for the future for a much better opportunity at winning a championship.

Paywall.

Looking at Warriors new digs. With nearby subway station not opening until January, could be nasty trip to arena.

Ferry stop nearby planned, in regulatory process, now 10 minute walk.

Davis will save money any way he can lol.

Someone's gonna get a great 1-yr deal on Brown for cheap. If they're smart they'll let him bounce after.

Did anyone else see the final score of Cal-Washington this morning (or yesterday morning for you weirdos in the wrong time zone) after the game was delayed last night and think that Google / whichever web site was glitching out?
