The NHL is a makeup league. This is probably Shanny's way of making it up to the Canucks for the ridiculous Edler suspension. I'm a Canucks fan who doesn't like your team (no, I'm not one of those buttkissers who comes in peace), but this is pretty ridiculous. Doesn't make me forget about the bogus Edler suspension, and I'm sure you're not happy either.

Meh, it's not a suspension and it's not my thousand bucks and change. I have a hard time getting angry over that.

I will say that Edler suspension was pretty ridiculous. Smith sold that one like he sold the Shaw hit in the playoffs last year. The force with which he was hit both times was less than the force with which he went down. He's a joke.

Shanahan is such garbage at his job. What message does this send? He blows it over and over and over excusing huge deliberate dirty plays but fines the ones that are questionable. This one was questionable at best.

Shanny has been pure junk since he took over the job but I thought he would get better as time went on, turns out I was wrong.

Kind of careless by Nolan, but there really wasn't much force behind that crosscheck. I guess hits to the neck area are suspendable/fineable, if the "right" players are involved.

So the going rate on crosschecking a ginger twin is now $1,436.94. So what, the NHL is short on cash making the Cryotes payroll this month? And Clifford got the only penalty on that play too! Un-fricking-believable !

i thought the skate into the ribs looked worse, than the love tap he gave with the stick. i think Shanny has the old 'wheel of fines' working in his office. spin the wheel and let's see what kind of penalty and / or fine will be handed down

I didn't see the game. Can someone post a video of this crosscheck? It must not have been to bad as there isn't a million clips on youtube from irate Nucks fans.

I saw it from my seats and was surprised it didn't get penalized, it was unnecessary but not too bad. Fine is fine with me.

Must be because he is on the ice. That said, the cross check barely moves him, and clearly doesn't hurt him.

Who the heck even complained about this? Didn't look like the Canucks were overly upset by it, Sedin wasn't hurt, even the fans weren't *****ing much (if at all) over it. It's like a random fine out of the blue.

Shanny have a quota to meet?
