Ovie has said he will NOT sit out of a road game to do it at home.

He is 12 goals away and the Caps play 14 times in March

No McAvoy, no Lindholm, and Swayman completely checked out? Ovechkin might break it if he's within 5 goals of the record that night

Just tell Swayman to go skate off into the corner and let him. At least we'll have something memorable happen this season

I do love the theatre of the chase. Love him or hate him - and I have some definite reservations - the guy has been a phenomenal player for a long time. When Ovi does break the record, it's a moment unlikely to be repeated, at least not for a very long time.

I still think it's touch and go whether it's going to happen this season, but for sure the Garden has a chance. For the pure drama though I'd prefer it happens in Washington. Main thing is though it must not be an empty netter. That'd be a total bummer.

40 years ago, my younger version took a job in Chicago, where I worked for WGN-TV, which had a truck contract for events in Chicago and Milwaukee.

I returned to Boston in 1986 when some TV38 guys retired.

Wayne Gretzky was able to pad his numbers in that era as whacky games like this happened regularly.

What Ovie has done in the 21st Century NHL is astounding.
