Uniform mandate
Multiple sources tell the Star Tribune that all NHL teams will be permitted to have only home and road jerseys next season as Adidas takes over for Reebok as the official outfitter of NHL uniforms.
There will be no third jerseys, in order to make the initial implementation of new sweaters easier.

The NHL may look a bit different in 2017-18 as it moves to Adidas as its official jersey supplier. Adidas, which owns the current manufacturer of NHL uniforms Reebok, is expected to slightly modify the look of the current uniforms by adding its own logo to the design. It’s highly likely the iconic three stripes may also make an appearance in some capacity.
Due to the necessity to change all of the uniforms under the switch from Reebok to Adidas, the NHL is reportedly not allowing teams to have an alternate sweater in 2017-18. Instead, only home and road jerseys will be permitted.
