You posting something negative about the Devils just to upset NJ fans which is a violation of the ToS? Yikes.

Cut him some slack, the highlight of the rags off-season has been trading for smith (lol!) and keeping trouba while letting him know the franchise wants him gone. And hes the captain. Talk about a great locker room this season. I see why he is lashing out.

Says the fan of the team who just traded for Reilly Smith lol. I'd take Tatar at 1.8 million over Smith @ 5 million any day of the week.

And to answer your question , you can argue Stefan Noesen will replace Holtz. Both players who won't really be in the top 6 too much and Noesen is a more rounded player than Holtz.
We aren't paying Smith 5 on the cap. So at least get that part right.

No, they replaced Holtz with Cotter and signed Tatar. Follow along.
not really...cotter is a 4th liner. you can definitely make the case that tatar is holtz's replacement. which honestly isn't even too bad of a replacement, but still.

Holtz never really filled a role so I don’t think it’s fair to say anyone is his replacement. Handicapping it right now the top two RWs on NJ are Meier and Mercer. Tatar sort of fills the gap on the left side after Bratt.

The goal is to be contenders and make playoffs. What happens after that is gravy after last season. So you can't be mad at a signing that might not be that great come playoffs. It's a low risk, cheap signing. And if we're being honest, if you're banking on Tatar to help you advance, you have other issues to worry about.

i mean i don't disagree that holtz was put in a position to fail and never found his footing, but he obviously filled a role (shooter, future PP specialist perhaps) that cotter is not going to fill. tatar will.

Tatar for getting into the playoffs and Palat for getting the Stanley cup.
