Ullmark + DeBrusk for Zacha, Tatar @50% and a 2nd round pick.

Devils need a goalie and Boston needs to give Swayman the net full time.
Also just a change of scenery trade for Zacha and DeBrusk

I wasn't sure on Boston's needs so the return is negotiable for sure

I think NJ adds to this. Don’t know what. Maybe Ty Smith added. Maybe Bahl as well.

Zacha lost some value this season. DeBrusk arguably enhanced his value.

Doubt Boston gives a crap about adding Tatar at 50%.

2nd round pick if it’s in the top 40 has some value.

I like the idea but as a Devils fan , this is not enough on our end. Boston wouldn’t want Tatar.
We would have to offer a good piece instead of Tatar, but I get the idea of trying to move him. We have no need for Tatar Zacha Johnson but not sure who would trade for them .
Maybe swap Tatar with Foote (Debrusk replacement ) and not sure what else to add.
Pieces id offer is a combination of :
Ty Smith
Zacha
Foote
Bahl
Clarke
Thompson

There might be a deal to be made with something around Debrusk, Ullmark and Zacha.

Personally I don’t see the Devils being interested in DeBrusk. Wood fills that role for the Devils when he’s healthy. Ullmark I could see making some sense.

Devils main goal this off-season should be finding ways to swap out Zacha, Tatar, and Johnsson for guys who compliment Hughes/Hischier/Bratt/Mercer better. They definitely should make an emphasis on adding size, experience, and guys who can work the boards and drive the middle of the ice to create space for our forwards. I don’t think DeBrusk is that type of player. Niederreiter is one example that has been thrown out often by Devils fans.

OP makes some sense because the Devils go from Tatar/Zacha to DeBrusk which opens a spot to add another forward. I wouldn’t hate something about Zacha and Ullmark keeping DeBrusk out of it.

The reason Tatar is in this proposal instead of prospects was, I'm assuming Boston isn't going to rebuild quite yet and would be more interested in NHL established players.
If they are after prospects, I'd have no problem adding one into this deal and removing Tatar

DeBrusk hurt his value by publicly stating he wants out and in my opinion that brings him down to a lot closer to Zacha in value, I could be crazy but that's how I see it

I'd also be open to a Zacha for Ullmark swap, DeBrusk was added simply because it was rumored the Devils had some level of interest in him, whether or not that remains the case I have no idea

After he asked for a trade he then signed a new contract for a couple of years. I think that and his more consistent play enhanced his value. No matter how you look at it he still has scored 25 goals and is under contract for a couple of years. He can play with highly skilled players or on a more grinding line.

It’s only my opinion but Boston probably isn’t looking to downgrade in net(Ullmark is 1b so getting a backup goaltender is a downgrade) and on the wing without getting a decent upgrade. I think if they were trading those players it would make sense to package them for a center with a year or two remaining on his contract and who can play on the top 2 lines and pp and be better than the average 2nd line center.

A deal like that perhaps would become available from a team that has no expectations of post season success and is looking to retool/rebuild and has high draft picks in their system.

I thought he signed the contract so teams wouldn't be scared off by his QO, but what you're saying makes sense.
I don't think the Devils would really need him to be involved at all, they should be fine with just Ullmark for Zacha assuming Boston can find a cheaper backup

Ullmark is a decent goalie. Idk why Boston would give him a big contract and then trade him after one season. I don’t really want to add anything to the original trade. Take out Debrusk and the draft pick. Ullmark for Zacha and Tatar at 50% and go from there.

NJ would be helping Boston out a lot with the cap and getting ullmarks cap off the books and getting 2 middle six players. Boston would be helping NJ because the devils need to acquire a decent goalie this offseason.

As a devils fan, I would first rather fail at signing UFA Husso or Campbell before I explore trade options for goalies. If the devils were to acquire a player like debrusk that would make me think that devils management believes holtz still isn’t ready

Bruins shouldn’t trade Ullmark. They are very happy to split the net with Swayman until Swayman firmly takes it over AND shows he is capable of playing that many games. They don’t want to Hart or Blackwood Swayman by throwing him too much too soon.

Bruins aren't trading ullmark unless they have another goalie to platoon with swayman, they aren't looking to carter hart him to death

Not to mention where is Swayman going to get his goalie hugs from if Ullmark is gone? The next guy could hate being touched, which would leave Swayman devastated.

Has Ty Smith fallen this hard this fast already?
smith lacks a defensive partner to cover his weaknesses and the pp deployment. a team, which can give him pp minutes and else a sheltered role could use him better than the devils. he doesn't fit with hamilton and not much better with severson, if they face the tough defensive assignments.

I feel like Boston is giving up the better assets and getting back meh. I guess the attractive part is being able to make cap space but I just don't feel like the juice is worth the squeeze with the OG proposal.
