Anyone have a guess as to when we'll see Niederreiter up with the Isles this season? I'm assuming he'll be up at some point. I think now would be a good time. We played well enough against Buffalo to win last game out, but still came out on the losing end of things.

Problem is, who do you sit? Bailey just came back, MM, Boyes, Grabner, Ullstrom have all looked pretty good and Okposo is going to be given an opportunity to play his way out of it. I wouldn't bring up Nino to play 4th line minutes again.

Sit Mcdonald and Reasoner. Move Okposo down to the fourth line and Boyes to the third. Bailey and nino (and boyes for that matter) can be interchangeable as wings on the top two lines.

Moulson-Tavares-Bailey/Nino
Grabner-Neilson-Nino/Bailey
Ullstrom-Aucoin-Boyes
Martin-Cizakas-Okposo

Before we even do that tho, I would say give bailey some time on the top line with Tavares. Bailey looked strong last night and we don't wanna complicate things with Nino if we don't have to.

Yeah, just after I started the thread with my question about Nino, I realized we just got bodies back. I don't want him up if it means 4th line minutes either, but I like is being suggested I would like to see him get a shot on the top 2 lines and see if we can't spark the whole offense. Tough decisions would have to be made, indeed.

Moulson - JT - Nino
Bailey - Nielsen - Okposo\Boyes
Grabner - Cizikas - Ullstrom
Martin - Aucoin - Boyes\Okposo

However, I wouldn't mind seeing Ullstrom playing the off-wing on the second line either.

Unless the wheels totally fall off this team, I don't see Nino being called up until the trade deadline at the earliest. Unless he gets top-6 minutes up here, he's better off continuing to work on his game down at the Bridge.

the swiss miss has done ABSOLUTELY NOTHING in the minors since running his mouth. i think he should actually pick up his play against inferior competition before he is promoted to play with the big boys.

I absolutely agree. This team needs a spark and not for nothing, Nino can be that spark. The kid is supposed to be our scoring power forward. His numbers in the minors might have dipped recently but the kid needs to make the jump to the NHL. Would rather see Nino instead of Boyes.

This, he hasn't done much since his demand. Why bring him up when he has attitude problems? Keep him in the minors. I would much rather keep EVERYBODY where they are until they EARN it.

When someone gets hurt and a call up is needed, chances are Nino is tops on the list (ya know, on the list of wingers.)

Calling up Nino at this point would send a wrong message at this point and run the risk of messing with his head even further, to a point where the damage may just be too big. He can't be brought up as a kind of 'saviour' when the whole team is struggling.
He needs to stay down for the whole season. Take responsibility on (and off) the ice, hopefully including playoffs. Then wirk, work work during the off-season.
And then, next camp and season, give him a real chance to see what he can do in the top six.

Nino and then any other kids we can rush up like every other prospect?

He's doing his work in the minors, just hit a slump after some IMMATURE actions....he's got some growing up to do.

How about we wait for a mature and ready for prime time Nino rather than throwing more **it on the wall to see what sticks?

pretend we were a real NHL team.

We have more than enough able bodies. I can't see Nino being called up unless we have loads of hurt bodies. He should finish his season in Bridgeport and work his magic come training camp in the fall.

I thought we were supposed to be developing him the right way? now we want to bring him up?

I guess the half year in theAHL did remind him of the player he is capable of being...

good lines iff nino can cope.

Nino was terrible last year...so 40 AHL games and he is a near all star? ANything less then A near ALL star NHL player is not going to help. 15 goals a year can be done by kyle okiposo. We dont need another one of those.

Lets see...this team is terrible in its own end, so people want to bring up a rookie forward and a rookie defenseman, neither of which has shown that they are anything special in their own end in the AHL.

How exactly would this help us keep the puck out of our own net?

+1. It does not make sense to bring up Nino and Donovan to help with our ultimate problem of preventing goals against. Sure, it might FEEL good, as if you are punishing some team killing presence in the form of players who have been under-performing, but two rookies aren't what the club needs. It needs solid experience, which we aren't getting.

Agreed.

Besides, what happens if Nino doesn't produce in his first 5 games, do we send him back down?

Let him play the rest of the year in the AHL unless he really tears it up and forces your hand. Anything short of that and he should stay where he is.
