Sad story:

Katt's probably best remembered as Clint, the agro a-hole who punches Adam Goldberg in Dazed in Confused, but he had a long character actor career. Katt was a real fixture in a lot of the 90s indie scene and so for a late Gen X'er such as myself his face and his personality (often type cast as an a-hole) was one I feel like I spent extensive time with.

Though the cause of death is fresh news as of today, I actually stumbled on the news of his death a few days ago. I've been on a major Steven Soderbergh kick and in the course of looking up something about The Limey where Katt has a funny and memorable role as a low-rent hitman (obnoxious and angry, of course), I saw the news that he'd died. I then saw him in a small role in Behind the Candelabra. He's the highlight of Full Frontal, which is a rare miss from Soderbergh, but in a cast that includes Julia Roberts, David Duchovny, Blair Underwood and David Hyde Pierce, it's Katt's overly committed actor (playing Hitler in a play) who steals the movie and is maybe the one reason worth checking it out.

It's a slightly weird experience to have spent some decent time with his work in the last week without knowing that he had just died.

RIP.

Sad to hear how he died. Was curious why he just sort of vanished. Did very little over the past 15 years oh so and my guess is it was known in the industry he suffered from depression they could not get insurance for him

Aw man rest in peace.

The scene in Dazed and Confused is a really funny one, since Adam Goldberg's character is so convinced an actual fight would get broken up before it got too serious. And then he gets his ass kicked.

I only bring up that moment of levity since it was Mr. Katt's commitment to the role that made the scene work as he played such a foil to Adam Goldberg's character.

Damn, sad to hear especially the cause of death. Loved him in Dazed and Confused as well various small roles he had over the years.

"I'm watching you Newton" lol

RIP

Sorry to hear this..

Katt seemed to have a nice, steady career. And like was pointed out earlier in the thread.. he was working throughout Gen X viewing. I actually remember Katt in a very small role in the original 'V', which was a Gen X' favorite. He played Marc Singer's son..

RIP

Was good actor who had some good roles in 90's/early 00's

His career seemed to dramatically slowdown before he fully seems to have stopped acting (Whatever reasons were we will probably find out in future)

FTR this would be V: The Series not the miniseries

The Sean Donovan role was recast for TV show for whatever reason with Katt assuming role in a couple episodes of largely forgettable series (Loved the miniseries though)
