Caphit: 2.1M. Has another year after this year.

Bio data: 6 foot 6. 210 lbs. 31 years old.

Position: Centre but can play wing.

Stats: 48 GP 10 G 17 A 27 P

Plays on the PK, Good on the FO. RH shot. No serious injury history.

Considering what Lindholm and Monohan got, what is Bjugstad worth?

Probably 3rd.

Isn't Arizona trying to be competitive?,
I think it's likely that they are trying to be more competitive and still make this trade (starting to think a 3rd might be too low given the current market). They have been improving every year for the last 2 and this year is going to be a 3rd. This is good asset management. Rinse and repeat it again next year too. Bugs likes AZ and the situation he is in.

He's got another year left, so I think that's why the market might be lower for him.

Could be wrong, but teams tend to stay away unless they get a good day on the contract.

If the Coyotes retained some, could get definitely get more.

2nd + B prospect for Bjugstad 50% retained.

Worth it for him having that extra year with the retention. Move addresses the bottom 6, center depth and doesn't risk disrupting the team chemistry.

The question for me would be why would he be available. Isn't Arizona actively trying to win games now?

We’re trying to win games but depending where we are at the deadline we could be sellers.

I believe that’s fair value but I don’t think we trade Bjudstad unless we get an offer we can’t refuse.

Good asset management for ARI is to try and be as good as they can be without making a big sacrifice on the future. They need to keep fan level high and create a demand Selling off vets for a 3rd rd pick at this point doesn't help as much as making the playoffs and maybe even winning a round.

They have and have had plenty of picks. Time to take a step forward, not backwark.

AZ has 3/4/3 2nd rounders the next 3 drafts. I think they would be asking a 1st and send back a 2nd.

Zucker (50%), Dumba (50%) and Stecher are the guys that the Coyotes will trade, if they want to be traded at the deadline. If they want to stick around and roll the dice, I think BA is fine with that too. It's not like the Coyotes really need more middling draft picks.

Bjugstad is staying. He's the only center they have that can consistently win a faceoff. They want him for next year for center depth and to insulate Geekie who hopefully starts out on the top line in Tucson.
