A lot of those are nice cities, but make no sense.

Siberia, Russia makes more sense than Athens, Greece.

Would just pick a combination of Sweden, Finland and Russian cities.

Added other cities for those who might share a vision of branching out into less obvious options to grow the game.

Also just said somewhere in Russia because many will dismiss the idea out of hand.

No way in hell it'll be in the same league as the NA NHL. Travel logistics would be a complete nightmare. I say make their own league. Russia likely won't be included because of politics plus the KHL competition.

Anywhere in Sweden, Norway, Finland, Germany and Czech all make sense to start, expand from there.

At least Helsinki, Stockholm, Berlin, Prague, Bratislava. I guess you'd be forced to pick a city or two from Russia.. Moscow and St. Petersburg would make sense. That's 7 teams which could be a division.

They wouldn't face against NA NHL teams during regular season because of logistics. So having one division would kinda suck, as it would be same teams over and over again. Either you need more teams added to the division (possible to some extent) or another division, which I don't believe is doable. There aren't ~14-16 cities in Europe that could provide NHL level product.

I got nothing bad to say about the OP, but I will also not be voting in this poll

It's not gonna happen and I don't want it to happen, but just for fun, if I must choose eight cities from the poll options, here and now:

Stockholm
Helsinki
Copenhagen
Prague
Bratislava
Berlin
Paris
London

On the other hand, Riga is missing as an option big time. They would be in my top eight, but on the expense of what other city I can't decide.

If we rule out Moscow it´s Prague, makes most sense economically(top tourist destination) and location wise(hockey country in the center of Europe). Helsinki and Stockholm doesn´t make sense as they are economically and tourist wise non significant cities. How can anybody chose London, 90% of English never heard about ice hockey and nearly 50% of London would rather watch cricket lol.

Russia is likely a problem for teams to get in and out of and I'd say the Russian teams will be pissed.

You'd need places with a market of sorts already so the likes of Italy, Greece and even France wouldn't make sense, they don't give a damn about hockey really.

Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, the UK (possibly Ireland as the Belfast team worked well), Germany and Czechia would all be good fits and will have more revenue potential than the likes of Slovakia.

Generally fans in Europe won't be willing to spend $150 a game on tickets each time. People are happy to as a one-off when they do the series, but not for more than a few games. Even less so in places like France and Greece where the sport isn't that popular.

Canada
Gothenburg
Stockholm
Helsinki
Berlin
Prague
Bratislava
Paris
London

were the 8 I selected.

But, I would add Moscow and St Petersburg in a dream scenario.

Two conferences:

Jagr Conference

Berlin
Prague
Bratislava
Paris
London

Ovechkin Conference

Moscow
St Petersburg
Helsinki
Stockholm
Gothenburg

After two successful seasons, I would eye expansion to Vienna and Zurich as well as Copenhagen and Oslo

Geography the divisions if you like

Stockholm is a very wealthy place and ranks highly on salaries which makes it an easier win for growing revenue.

Also, Switzerland should be on the list.

Oh and London has had NHL games before at the 02 Arena and went down a storm.

The salaries in Stockholm are a significant chunk higher than Prague

Stockholm 27, Prague 71.

Comparison for general cost of living here
Yet quality of living in higher in Prague thanks to lower income tax, safety and overall cheaper prices. Prague is also top5 tourist destination in Europe and much more interesting city, Stockholm is not even in top30. Even tiny Talinn in Estonia is more visited than Stockholm.

I don't know where you're getting your stats from but Prague isn't top 5 and Stockholm was actually higher in "bed nights" for tourism in 2022.

Just to add, I'm European and have been to Prague. I haven't been to Stockholm yet as it is bloody expensive, which is why it makes far more sense for a commercial decision.
