Connected to the Sabres in the past, would you give up your 2nd for him now ? is being asked below.

Can he play 2C and fill a Cozens void if he is dealt or moved to wing ? (Also considering Kulich).

I wouldn't give up a hemorrhoid for him.

If he's pretty good, how come the results haven't been there with anyone but Dahlin?

That's the worry to me.
Because our other defensemen sucks? And the Power - Byram pairing didn't make any sense at all.

Would you trade Krebs for Laughton?

Laughton has definitely improved this season, even though I haven't seen much of a Flyers game.

What results? .. a bunch of numbers on a chart? ..

Just watch the games.. you can see the talent and the engagement and his progression.

He probably can't carry a 2nd pairing on his own right now but neither can Owen Power ... and I believe in future he will be able to carry a 2nd pairing

but can't the other team leak? If Kevyn was actually talking to someone.

Never understood this take. There is more than just Buffalo unless Kevyn is just talking to himself....which is possible.
What is the incentive to leak negotiations with another team?

Usually GM's will leak to the "insiders" that there is interest in one of their own players to try and drum up interest or to try and get more than the current offer.

I think that's what happened this summer when Adams tried to trade for Necas. Tulsky probably leaked the information to the press and the price went up when other teams showed interest.

I don't know. Kevyn Calls up Vancouver to trade for EP. What could be the incentive for Vancouver to leak it?

The eye test with a partner not named Rasmus Dahlin has backed up the stats about how Byram has only looked really good with Dahlin.

Personally, I would be wary of giving Byram a Power-esque contract unless you feel confident that he could play well away from Dahlin.

And the Power contract is exactly why I would be wary of going that route with Byram. They can't have multiple D making $8M+ that they can't count on carrying the 2nd pair.

I don't want them to pay a guy $8M+ who only looks good with Dahlin.

They paid Samuelsson $4M off of being a Dahlin-merchant and that is bad enough.

I'm locking up Bo-Dahlin all day, I don't care how he looks with other Dmen, maybe thats something to be said for the other Dmen. Some want a 'stay at home' guy with Dahlin...why? Let them do their thing, continue to grow together and go.

Board: Would you consider a Cozens for Byfield deal ?
Cozens is 18 months older.
They are both big and fast, with Byfield bigger and faster.

Both were drafted as centres. Byfield has played mostly wing, some think Cozens should as well.

Cozens makes $850K more and his deal lasts until 2030, one more year than Byfield

Statistically they are having similar seasons.
Cozens has significantly better career highs and has been a better point producer over his career

Not sure there is much difference to them value-wise: purely an eye-of-the-beholder thing.

It would be purely a change of scenery deal where you are swapping similar players with similar roster fits and similar questions.

If Byram is demanding $8M+ per on a long term deal this offseason and is unwilling to sign a shorter term deal, I would look to move him in a trade.
Would you rather have Byram at 8m or Power at 8m? Does it make sense to pay 3 defensemen 28 million? This team is a mess when our top 4 next year could be making a combined 30-32 million and we aren't even a playoff team.

Hindsight Power should have never gotten that contract. It really skews things.

If you can keep only one and pay 8 million which one are you keeping?

Probably not a fair comparison since Power has to drive his own pairing and Byram plays with Dahlin....

Idk .. I can think of maybe a handful of games when I have said Damn Bo .. that was a bad game from you.

They have/had an asset they want to move and are not getting the value they want from ..say Carolina.. they leak that Buffalo is very interested to an insider and hope that Carolina feels the pressure of another team swooping in and ups their offer. They can then either take it or go back to Buffalo and say "I have these components on the table, best it".

Some GM's use the insiders some don't.

And who are you replacing him with in the first pair? And if he asks for 8.2 million, for example, or even 8 million. Is everything okay?
